Horizon Recruitment is recruiting for a Fund Accountant to join a real estate investment management team in Toronto. This role supports the financial reporting and analysis for multiple institutional real estate clients and their underlying property portfolios.

The Fund Accountant plays a key role in consolidating property level information, preparing accurate financial reporting, and delivering clear insights to both internal stakeholders and external clients. Working closely with asset management, portfolio management, and finance teams, this position helps ensure that financial results, returns, and portfolio performance are reported accurately and on time.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reporting packages for real estate clients
• Consolidate property level results into client level financial statements and supporting schedules
• Review property income summaries and analyze variances in revenue and expenses
• Review property balance sheets and supporting documentation for accuracy and reasonableness
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and intercompany balances
• Maintain leasing schedules including expiry, rollover, and vacancy analysis
• Process invoices, bank deposits, transfers, and related accounting entries
• Prepare HST and QST returns and process related payments
• Support quarterly distributions and fee calculations for clients
• Calculate and analyze portfolio metrics including IRR, TWRR, NAV, and other investment returns
• Upload performance data to external reporting platforms and reconcile results
• Support budgeting by reviewing and validating property level budgets
• Assist with year end audits and financial statement preparation
• Build and improve Excel templates used for reporting and analysis
• Respond to client inquiries related to financial results and reporting

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or related field
• Working toward a CPA designation is preferred
• Approximately 2 to 4 years of accounting experience
• Experience in real estate, investment management, fund administration, or public practice is an asset
• Understanding of financial statements, reconciliations, and variance analysis
• Strong Excel skills including formulas, pivot tables, and working with financial templates
• Experience with Yardi is considered an asset
• Exposure to investment metrics such as IRR, NAV, or portfolio performance reporting is beneficial
• Strong communication skills and ability to interact with internal stakeholders and clients
• Detail oriented with strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Able to manage multiple deadlines and priorities

Remuneration

$75,000 - $80,000 base salary plus approximately 8% bonus and a comprehensive benefits package.
