The Playroom Associates are zealous about cultivating a quality childcare program for the members of Altea Active and our community. They create a clean, safe, and nurturing environment for children ranging from six weeks of age to 12 years old that address each child's unique needs, while effectively communicating with parents. As a Playroom Associate a typical day might include the following:

• Meeting and greeting a tonne of familiar and unfamiliar faces
• Answering the telephone promptly with an energetic tone of voice
• Process registration and check-ins including processing payment using the software system
• Plan, carry out, and assess developmentally appropriate activities and experiences in harmony with the centre’s philosophy
• Observe how children use materials and interact with each other and adults
• Use observations to expand play and plan activities that recognize individual difference
• Set up crafts at the table for one group of children, set up another group with reading books and others with music.
• Ensure the child’s environment is healthy and safe
• Communicate positively and build trust with parents

To land this role you need to have;

• Post-secondary relating to early childhood education, child development, elementary education, or special education and additional certifications
• Workshops relating to child care are an asset
• Experience working with children from six weeks old to 12 years old is required
• All team members must have current CPR/First Aid certification prior to start date and must be maintained throughout employment
• A recent Criminal Background Check (Vulnerable Sector) prior to commencement of training and/or work.
