Their diverse portfolio includes transportation infrastructure, servicing, excavation, grading, and large-scale civil works for both public and private sector clients. About The Position Promote and maintain a strong safety culture across heavy civil construction projects, ensuring compliance with company policies, WorkSafeBC regulations, and client safety requirements. Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and hazard assessments to identify risks, monitor compliance, and implement corrective actions. Lead site orientations, daily toolbox talks, safety meetings, and ongoing training for employees, subcontractors, and visitors. Monitor field operations to ensure safe work practices are followed during excavation, underground utility installation, earthworks, grading, road construction, and heavy equipment activities. Investigate incidents, near misses, and non-conformances, determine root causes, and develop effective corrective and preventative actions. Develop, implement, and maintain project-specific Health & Safety Plans, Safe Work Procedures (SWPs), Job Hazard Assessments (JHAs), and other required safety documentation. Collaborate with Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, and subcontractors to proactively address safety concerns and support the safe delivery of project milestones. Ensure workers maintain the required certifications, training, and competencies while verifying equipment inspections and regulatory compliance. Prepare and maintain accurate safety reports, inspection records, incident investigations, and project documentation, providing regular updates to project leadership. Support continuous improvement initiatives by promoting best practices, monitoring safety performance, and fostering a proactive, accountable safety culture across all project sites. This opportunity is available to candidates based in Vancouver, Burnaby, Langley, Surrey, New Westminster, Coquitlam, Chilliwack, Delta, and Richmond.
The Requirements At least 5 years’ experience in a CSO position with a Civil Contractor. Valid Construction Safety Officer (CSO) designation or equivalent recognized safety certification Strong knowledge of WorkSafeBC regulations, Occupational Health & Safety legislation, and industry best practices. Proficient in Microsoft Office and experience maintaining safety documentation, reports, and compliance records. Valid Class 5 Driver's License with the ability to travel between project sites as required. Compensation & Benefits $45- $50/ hr. (DOE) Company Vehicle Fuel Card Health & Dental Benefits
