Gravity Union is looking for our newest Information Management Consultant! This is a full-time (40 hours/week) position based primarily onsite at our office in the heart of downtown Vancouver.
About the opportunity

As an Information Management Consultant, you’ll work across a variety of digital transformation projects that help organizations better manage, govern, and collaborate around their information. If you have a passion for continuous learning, love complex challenges, are a people-person at heart, and enjoy collaboration, this role is for you! You'll partner directly with clients to understand their business challenges, facilitate discovery workshops, translate requirements into practical solutions, provide strategic recommendations, and guide organizations through change and adoption.
Success in this role requires a blend of consulting, facilitation, critical thinking, and technical expertise. You'll regularly engage with clients, project teams, leaders, and community members, navigate competing priorities, facilitate alignment across diverse perspectives, and build trusted advisor relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
This role is ideal for someone with experience in information management, SharePoint, Microsoft 365, or digital workplace consulting who is interested in growing their consulting and information governance expertise.
The expected base salary range for this position is $75,000-$85,000, but remains flexible depending on the candidate’s unique skills and experience. The determination of a candidate’s base salary within this range is based on the individual’s location, skills & competencies, and unique qualifications. In addition, we offer a comprehensive benefits program.
As an Information Management Consultant, your day-to-day includes
Working on SharePoint and Microsoft 365 collaboration solutions, employee portals, and information and records management initiatives utilizing a variety of governance, compliance, and enterprise records management technologies Leading client engagements through discovery, requirements gathering, client and user interviews, workshop facilitation, solution design, implementation, training, content migration planning and post-launch support Providing strategic recommendations on Microsoft 365, information governance, and records management best practices while conducting current-state assessments, identifying opportunities for improvement, and helping clients define future-state approaches and roadmaps Designing, configuring, and supporting information governance and records management solutions across Microsoft 365 and enterprise platforms, including SharePoint Online, Microsoft Purview, information architecture, metadata and classification models, retention and disposition capabilities, file plans, taxonomy models, and content lifecycle management frameworks Presenting findings, recommendations, and project deliverables to both business and technical audiences Leveraging empathy, change management, and technical expertise to drive adoption and help clients successfully implement sustainable solutions Building trusted client relationships by managing expectations, navigating project challenges, identifying risks, and ensuring solutions align with business and regulatory requirements Staying up to date on emerging technologies, certifications, and industry best practices while proactively sharing your findings with team members Supporting internal organizational initiatives and professional development opportunities

Are you the one? Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Library Studies, Archival Studies and Business, or an equivalent combination of education and experience 2+ years of experience in consulting, professional services, information management, digital workplace, or client-facing advisory roles Experience working with enterprise content management platforms (preferably SharePoint Online) Experience with records and information management principles and practices, including metadata, classification, retention, disposition, governance, and content lifecycle management Exposure to enterprise records management and information governance platforms (ex: Microsoft Purview, Collabware/Collabspace, OpenText, Laserfiche, or similar solutions) Working knowledge of Canadian privacy law and regulatory compliance/frameworks Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills Strong facilitation, presentation, consulting, and communication (verbal and written) skills, with the ability to translate complex information governance concepts for both technical and non-technical audiences Experience gathering and documenting business requirements, facilitating workshops, and translating client needs into actionable recommendations You enjoy building relationships and helping people solve complex business challenges You’re adaptable and comfortable working across a variety of projects and technologies You’re a curious person that loves to learn and isn’t afraid to ask clarifying questions You know how to have fun!
Icing on the cake
Exposure to SharePoint information architecture, content migration, or content cleanup Experience working within the public sector or highly regulated industries Experience responding to Freedom of Information (FOI) requests Familiarity with public sector information management frameworks Experience conducting information architecture, taxonomy, metadata, or content assessment activities Interest in emerging technologies such as Microsoft Copilot, AI governance, and modern information management practices Certifications and Professional Credentials Microsoft certifications (MS-700, SC-401, SC-900 or other relevant certifications) Certified Records Manager (CRM) Information Governance Professional (IGP)
