About the role
Job Summary
Under general supervision and in accordance with schedules, performs routine messenger services between various hospital areas.
Duties/Accountabilities
Collects and delivers mail such as interdepartmental communications, non-sensitive laboratory specimens and reports, patient charts, pharmacy supplies, regular O.R. Slate, Day Care Slate and other items by performing duties such as loading mail cart with mail and delivering to appropriate areas of the hospital according to established schedules. Sorts interdepartmental/external mail within the Mail Room as assigned; receives courier packages by signing receiving document and processing according to established procedures. Operates the pneumatic tube system by performing duties such as placing appropriate mail in tube, adjusting code on tube to indicate correct destination, opening received tubes and sorting mail by hospital area. Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Grade 12 or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Knowledge & Abilities
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Ability to deal with others effectively.
Physical ability to perform the duties of the job.
Ability to organize work.
Ability to operate related equipment.
