Role Description The Occupational Hygiene Technician role is a part-time, remote position focused on supporting occupational exposure assessment and control initiatives. Day-to-day tasks may include collecting, organizing, and reviewing exposure data; assisting with virtual workplace assessments; and preparing clear, concise reports under the guidance of senior consultants. The technician will help implement practical solutions by supporting the development of sampling plans, tracking follow-up actions, and maintaining accurate documentation.
Additional responsibilities may involve coordinating with clients via email or video calls, contributing to risk assessment summaries, and assisting in research on best practices in occupational hygiene and exposure science. The role requires consistent attention to detail, adherence to established protocols, and strong collaboration with the broader consulting team in a remote work environment.
Qualifications
Knowledge of occupational hygiene or occupational health principles, including basic exposure assessment and control methods. Ability to collect, organize, and interpret technical data with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports, documentation, and client correspondence. Comfort with remote work tools, including video conferencing, shared document platforms, and data management systems. Attention to detail and ability to follow standardized procedures and quality assurance protocols. Relevant education in occupational hygiene, environmental health, industrial hygiene, public health, or a related scientific field (certificate, diploma, or degree preferred). Experience in consulting, health and safety roles, or workplace assessments is an asset but not mandatory. Ability to work independently, manage part-time hours effectively, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams. Familiarity with occupational health regulations and guidelines is beneficial.
