Full-Time Position
Selkirk Montessori School is seeking an innovative, collaborative, and relationship-centered educator to join our Adolescent Program team. This position is part of a three-teacher teaching team in Grades 7 and 8 within a Montessori adolescent community.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading English Language Arts, Leadership, and contributing to foundational aspects of the program, including integrated Field Studies, Model United Nations, service learning, seminar, and micro-economy, while working closely with colleagues to support the intellectual, social, emotional, and moral development of adolescents.

Position Overview
As a member of the Adolescent Program team, you will:
- Design and deliver engaging English Language Arts learning experiences aligned with Montessori adolescent principles and provincial curriculum requirements.
- Foster a rich literary environment that develops communication, critical thinking, research, writing, and discussion skills.
- Lead Arts Education experiences that encourage creativity, self-expression, craftsmanship, and artistic exploration.
- Participate in interdisciplinary Field Studies, helping students connect classroom learning to real-world experiences and community engagement.
- Lead and/or collaborate with the students and team on different components of service learning and micro-economy
- Collaborate closely with two teaching colleagues to create integrated, project-based learning opportunities.
- Serve as an advisor and mentor, supporting students' academic, social, and emotional development.
- Guide students in developing executive functioning, self-management, and leadership skills.
- Contribute to student exhibitions, performances, community projects, and experiential learning opportunities.
- Participate in outdoor education, field experiences, and overnight trips as required (typically two trips per year).
- Build strong partnerships with families and maintain regular communication regarding student growth and development.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A valid British Columbia Teaching Certificate (or eligibility for certification).
- Experience teaching middle school or adolescent-aged students.
- Strong knowledge of English Language Arts instruction and assessment.
- Experience in Arts Education and interdisciplinary learning.
- A commitment to experiential, inquiry-based, and project-based learning.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
- A deep respect for adolescents and an understanding of their developmental needs.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference may be given to candidates with:
- Montessori adolescent training, certification, or experience.
- Knowledge of Montessori adolescent philosophy and pedagogy.
- Experience with integrated curriculum design.
- Outdoor education, environmental education, or field studies experience.
- Experience facilitating student leadership, service learning, or community-based projects.
