About the role
The Porter functions within Central Portering and is responsible for transporting and distributing equipment, supplies, food and linen as well as transporting patients.
- Grade 12 (preferred)
- Oral and written English ability
- Ability to identify and respond to priorities
- Ability to understand and follow directions
- Ability to adjust to handling of highs and lows in providing services
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to operate tow motor, where applicable
- Ability to operate delivery equipment
- Ability to push, pull and lift heavy equipment and stand constantly
- Ability to lift 25 pounds (linen)
- Ability to move patients
