This is a unique opportunity to help shape how some of the Northwest Territories most significant projects are understood, advanced, and supported. The successful candidate will play a key role in communicating the vision, progress, and national significance of major projects that are central to the NWT's future and increasingly important to Canada's broader economic, security, and sovereignty priorities.
We are seeking a skilled and adaptable Communications professional who can lead and support communications for major projects across the Northwest Territories (NWT). This role is ideal for someone who can translate complex technical regulatory, and policy information into clear, compelling, and accessible messaging for diverse audiences, including Indigenous governments and communities, government partners, stakeholders, media, and the public.
This work goes beyond traditional communications. It is an opportunity to help tell the story of how the Northwest Territories is advancing major nation-building projects through partnership, meaningful engagement, and a strong focus on Northern priorities. From all-season roads and clean energy expansion to Arctic corridors and strategic infrastructure, these projects are helping position the NWT as a key contributor to Canada's long-term prosperity, resilience, and competitiveness.
The successful candidate will join a dedicated team working at the centre of high-profile files with significant public, Indigenous, intergovernmental, and national interest. This role will help ensure communications are clear, strategic, transparent, and responsive as these projects move through planning, engagement, regulatory, financing, and development stages.
To be considered for this position, candidates should possess:
- University degree with specialization in journalism, communications, public relations, or marketing, with a minimum five (5) years of experience in the communications field.
- Three (3) years of management and direct supervisory experience is also required.
