Cruise Operations Coordinator
The Cruise Operations Coordinator is a key contributor to the safe, efficient, and seamless delivery of cruise operations at the Seaport Cruise Vessel Facility. Serving as the subject matter expert for cruise operations and vessel berthing, this role coordinates cruise schedules, berthing plans, site readiness, and day‑of‑call operations while providing leadership for security activities and emergency response as required.
Working closely with cruise lines, agents, transportation providers, public safety partners, and internal HPA teams, the Cruise Operations Coordinator plays an essential role in delivering a world‑class cruise experience while upholding regulatory compliance and operational excellence.
What You'll Do:
- Coordinate daily cruise operations, ensuring safe vessel arrivals, departures, and passenger flows
- Develop, maintain, and administer detailed cruise schedules and vessel berthing plans for current and future seasons
- Act as Duty Cruise Marine Facility Security Officer (MFSO) as scheduled, ensuring compliance with Transport Canada and Marine Transportation Security Act requirements
- Supervise cruise security personnel and coordinate access control, traffic management, and transportation activity across cruise sites
- Liaise with cruise agents, ship personnel, ground transportation providers, police, and internal HPA stakeholders to address operational issues
- Deliver training, coaching, and performance feedback to Duty Cruise MFSOs and security staff
- Prepare operational, incident, and planning reports and maintain cruise operating procedures and protocols
- Support emergency response, incident management, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Participate in stakeholder meetings and cross departmental coordination, including as the convener of the Cruise Operations and Real Estate (CORE) Team
What You Bring:
- Post‑secondary education in a relevant field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- 3–5 years of progressive experience in port, marine, terminal, or complex transportation or industrial operations
- Strong knowledge of cruise ship, terminal, and passenger operations within a port environment
- Experience interpreting and applying federal and provincial safety, environmental, and security regulations
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and working knowledge of design software such as AutoCAD or SketchUp
- Ability to read and interpret vessel, facility, and building schematics
- Proven leadership skills with experience supervising security or operational teams
- Strong organizational, problem‑solving, and decision‑making abilities, with the capacity to perform under pressure
- Excellent communication skills, professionalism, and a customer‑service mindset
- Flexibility to work variable hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts during the cruise season
- Ability to obtain required security clearances, Marine Facility Security Officer certification, and radio licensing (French language skills are an asset)
