Position Scope: We are seeking an experienced and solutions-driven Civil Engineer to oversee the structural integrity, facility expansion, and site infrastructure of our food processing operations. In this critical role, you will bridge the gap between heavy civil infrastructure and strict food safety standards. You will manage capital construction projects, oversee wastewater treatment systems, and ensure our facilities are engineered to support cutting-edge processing equipment while maintaining compliance with environmental and hygienic design regulations. Key Responsibilities: * Lead civil and structural design efforts for plant expansions, retrofits, and new facility construction, managing projects from conceptual design through commissioning. * Design and oversee the installation of critical plant infrastructure, including sanitary flooring, drainage systems, utility piping, and structural supports for heavy processing equipment and silos. * Manage and upgrade site wastewater treatment facilities, ensuring optimal capacity and strict compliance with local, provincial/state, and federal environmental regulations. * Prepare bid documents, select contractors, and oversee on-site construction to ensure work is completed safely, on time, within budget, and without disrupting ongoing plant production. * Work closely with Process Engineers, Quality Assurance, and Maintenance teams to ensure all structural and civil modifications align with Lean manufacturing principles and food safety standards (GMP, HACCP, SQF). * Conduct regular structural assessments of the plant, roof systems, and site grounds (paving, storm water management) to identify and address maintenance needs proactively. Work Environment & Physical Requirements: * On-site in a manufacturing environment with exposure to plant operations. * Exposure to external climate conditions. * Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. Qualification & Experience: * Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline. * Professional Engineer (P.Eng. / PE) designation is highly preferred (or eligible for registration). * Minimum of 5 years of civil or structural engineering experience in an industrial manufacturing environment. Direct experience in the food and beverage processing industry is highly desirable. * Strong understanding of industrial wastewater management, hygienic facility design, structural load analysis, and construction management. * Knowledge of building codes, environmental regulations, and food safety standards (CFIA, FDA, HACCP) as they pertain to facility design. * Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, or similar drafting and design software. * Criminal Record Checks are required for successful applicants. * Valid Driver’s License is required.
