Contract Role About the Role We are seeking a skilled RPG Programmer to join our dynamic team and contribute to the development and maintenance of robust business applications. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies and legacy systems, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance across our platforms. Key Objectives Develop, maintain, and enhance RPG-based applications to support business operations. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze requirements and deliver effective solutions. Ensure system reliability, performance, and scalability through proactive troubleshooting and optimization. Responsibilities Design, code, test, and debug RPG programs in accordance with business requirements. Maintain and update existing RPG applications, ensuring compatibility with current systems. Work closely with business analysts and stakeholders to understand functional specifications. Identify and resolve technical issues promptly to minimize downtime. Document code changes and maintain clear technical documentation. Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Support integration efforts with other systems and platforms. Stay current with industry trends and best practices related to RPG programming and IBM i environments. Requirements Proven experience as an RPG Programmer or similar role. Strong knowledge of RPG IV (ILE RPG) and familiarity with RPG III is a plus. Experience working on IBM i (AS/400) systems. Understanding of database concepts, particularly DB2. Ability to write efficient, maintainable, and well-documented code.
