Prepare necessary reclass journal entries and provide guidance to payroll administrators on payroll adjustments and updates. Liaise with Finance on G/L inquiries and escalations. * Assist in preparation of third-party remittance requisitions, reporting, file submissions and reconciliations. Verify payroll tax remittances and third party remittances against supporting payroll records before submitting to payroll manager for approval. * Manage monthly Garnishee remittances including requesting monthly payments, updating garnishee list, and distribution of payment cheques. * Audit and validate PTO balances on bi-weekly basis and prepare adjustment entries to clear out balances for terminated employees. * Support and work with Payroll team on payroll calculations relating to union collective agreements and new ratified agreements. * Processing payroll using ADP * Assist in year-end processing, annual government filings and reconciliations. * Assist the payroll compliance team with special projects, and implementation of payroll changes required by legislations or union agreements Who you are: * Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Commerce or related discipline * 3 – 5 years’ experience with Payroll and or Accounting with payroll process experience * Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) is an additional bonus * Advanced user of Microsoft Excel – Look Up, Tables, Formulas, with ability to prepare reports * Ability to analyze data and provide recommended solutions. * Maintain professional and technical knowledge (legislative changes, collective agreement ratifications) * Ability to work effectively within a team environment and independently in a fast paced environment with minimal supervision. * Ability to multi-task and prioritize. * Effective verbal and written English communication skills required.
