43 Years of Serving Immigrants and Refugees. Skills for Change is known for pioneering programs that respond to shifting immigration and workplace trends. Skills for change provides new immigrants and refugees with a wide range of social services; free language training, mentoring, bridging programs, entrepreneurship programs, and employment and training programs for internationally educated professionals. The first program delivered in 1982 was an office training program that successfully led a group of women from Southeast Asia into full-time employment. Now a range of accelerated programs are offered to fit the needs of the newcomers and immigrants arriving to Canada from all parts of the world. Services we offer include information and referral, French and English language assessment, English language instruction, integrated language/skills training, employment preparation, business skills, mentoring and settlement services. Our Mission: We provide learning and training opportunities for immigrants and refugees to access and fully participate in the workplace and wider community. The Bridging Program Specialist provides employment support, job readiness coaching, and career planning to clients transitioning into skilled trades. They also engage with employers to identify placement opportunities and collaborate with community partners to ensure wraparound support.

The instructor will facilitate the Cybersecurity Essentials course by delivering engaging theoretical and hands-on training to adult learners. They are responsible for preparing lesson plans, assessing student progress, and maintaining an inclusive learning environment.

The specialist will build and maintain partnerships with employers in STEM, skilled trades, and sustainability sectors to create employment opportunities for youth. They will also educate employers on workplace accessibility and facilitate initiatives like job fairs and networking events.

The Events & Operations Specialist will support the development and execution of signature events, including media launches, symposiums, and community initiatives. They will also manage event logistics, coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, and provide administrative support to ensure departmental objectives are met.

The Clinical Counsellor provides high-quality mental health support, crisis intervention, and holistic care planning for newcomers and refugees. They are also responsible for conducting intake assessments, facilitating information sessions, and maintaining accurate client records.
