The UPA is a professional farmers’ union. Its purpose and actions are based on certain values: respect for people, solidarity, collective action, social justice, fairness, and democracy. In keeping with these values, the UPA’s chief mission is to promote, defend, and further the professional, economic, social, and moral interests of Quebec’s farm and forestry producers, regardless of race, nationality, sex, language, or belief system. By staying in tune with Quebec society as a whole, the UPA also helps improve social, economic, and cultural life in rural communities. Finally, the UPA recognizes that Quebec farming and forestry exist in a context of global connectivity, and may therefore support other farming and forestry groups in Canada and abroad through collective action. The UPA represents roughly 42,000 Quebec farmers as well as all forestry producers in the province. With 92 locals, 12 regional federations, its 159 unions, and 26 specialized groups, the UPA is the only official body that speaks on behalf of all Quebec farm and forestry producers. The UPA unites farmers in two ways: based on where they live (“general sector”) and what they produce (“specialized sector”).

Plan preventive and corrective maintenance, implement new services and changes, maintain technical documentation, recommend improvements, and support service-desk incident resolution.

Conduct farm audits and inspections to assess producers’ compliance with regulations, agreements, programs, standards, and policies, using available evidence to support certification and compliance decisions. Coordinate with program and quota-management resources, complete related administrative tasks, and submit accurate, detailed reports within required deadlines.

Collect, manage, and analyze economic and statistical information related to chicken and turkey production and marketing, maintaining databases and responding to data requests. Prepare economic publications, studies, reports, and presentations, and support industry committees, production allocation discussions, and the local-market chicken production program.

Coordinate travel, meetings, committee materials, and events while preparing correspondence, reports, minutes, spreadsheets, and presentations. Track decisions, deadlines, and approvals, support employee onboarding, and ensure compliance with governance rules for marketing committees.

Manage accounting and administrative operations for the Quebec Apple Producers, including producer files and the Advance Payments Program, ensuring accurate records, compliance, and responsive service. Process routine accounting transactions, support financial close and audits, and provide administrative support for marketing activities and the joint plan.

Milk cows, care for and observe animals, and feed the herd. Maintain farm buildings, occasionally operate a tractor or other agricultural machinery, and perform other tasks needed to keep the farm running.
