Position Summary Reporting to the Proposal Manager, the Proposal Editor will support the development and finalization of RFQs, RFPs and other competitive submissions for major civil engineering and infrastructure opportunities. The Proposal Editor will ensure that submissions are clear, persuasive, consistent and compliant with client requirements. Working with proposal managers, technical writers, engineers, project leaders and corporate teams, the successful candidate will bring material from multiple contributors into one consistent voice. Key Responsibilities Edit RFQs, RFPs, expressions of interest, prequalification documents and corporate submissions. Review content for clarity, grammar, structure, tone, consistency and readability. Ensure responses comply with evaluation criteria, page limits, submission instructions and mandatory requirements. Maintain compliance matrices and confirm that all client questions and requirements have been addressed. Integrate content from engineering, construction, commercial, QHSE, communications and stakeholder engagement teams. Ensure terminology, project information, statistics, resumes and corporate messaging remain consistent throughout each submission. Strengthen proposal narratives, key messages, win themes and executive summaries. Identify unclear, incomplete or unsupported statements and work with contributors to resolve them. Edit technical material so it is understandable to contracting authorities, regulators, partners and non-technical stakeholders. Coordinate final reviews, version control, proofreading and document readiness before submission. Work with graphic design and document production resources to align written and visual content. Maintain editorial standards, style guides, templates and reusable proposal content. Support lessons learned reviews and improvements to the proposal development process. Some travel may be required based on operational needs. Qualifications & Skills Bachelor's degree in English, communications, journalism, marketing or a related discipline. Five or more years of professional editing, proposal development or technical communications experience. Experience in civil engineering, construction, infrastructure, architecture or professional services is preferred. Excellent command of written English, including grammar, structure and professional business writing. Strong proofreading skills and exceptional attention to detail. Ability to edit material from multiple contributors into one clear and consistent voice. Familiarity with RFQ, RFP and public-sector procurement processes. Ability to prioritize work and meet strict, often overlapping deadlines. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, including styles, formatting and tracked changes. Experience with Adobe Acrobat, SharePoint and proposal management platforms is an asset. French-language proficiency is an asset but not mandatory. Willingness to travel on a needed basis (within Canada) Expected Compensation Successful candidates chosen for this position can expect to earn between $80,000.00 CAD - $120,000.00 CAD. Requirements
Requires a bachelor's degree in English, communications, journalism, marketing, or a related discipline, and at least five years of editing, proposal development, or technical communications experience. Candidates should have excellent written English, strong proofreading and deadline-management skills, familiarity with RFQ/RFP and public-sector procurement processes, and advanced Microsoft Word proficiency; relevant industry experience and French proficiency are assets.
