POSITION SUMMARY Reporting directly to the Early Years Manager, the Indigenous Supported Child Development (ISCD) Support Worker provides direct, hands-on support to children and youth aged 0–19 with developmental delays and/or disabilities in home, childcare, school, and community settings. Working collaboratively with families, caregivers, educators, and the Indigenous Supported Child Development (ISCD) and Indigenous Early Years Outreach (IEYO) Consultants, the ISCD Support Worker promotes inclusion and supports children to participate meaningfully in daily routines, learning opportunities, and community activities. This position is part of the Community Services team within the Indigenous Infant and Child Development program of the Early Years Department. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE * Diploma in Early Childhood Education with a Special Needs Certificate, Human Services, Child and Youth Care, or a related field. * Experience supporting children and youth with developmental delays and/or disabilities. * Experience working with Indigenous children, families, and communities is considered an asset. * An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered. REQUIREMENTS * Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search, results acceptable to WFN * Valid driver's license and acceptable driver's abstract with access to a reliable vehicle required. * Valid First Aid and CPR certification (Level C) * Meets all immunization and tuberculosis screening requirements in accordance with provincial legislation and program requirements. * Maintains a high level of confidentiality and uses discretion on all matters relating to the affairs of the Westbank First Nation and clients. JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILTIES * Collaborates with educators, families, caregivers, and consultants to support children and youth in fully participating in daily routines, learning experiences, and community activities. * Implements individualized strategies, activities, and therapeutic recommendations developed by the ISCD/IEYO Consultant and other professionals to support children's developmental goals. * Provides one-to-one and small-group support in childcare, school, home, and community environments. * Supports children in developing social, emotional, communication, motor, and self-help skills. * Models inclusive practices for educators and caregivers. * Assists with transitions between programs and educational settings. * Documents observations and reports progress to the ISCD/IEYO Consultant. * Participates in team meetings and ongoing professional development. * Provide culturally appropriate daily experiences that support and promote the development of all children /youth in the setting * Maintains regular communication with the ISCD/IEYO Consultants regarding child progress, concerns, and support strategies. * Work collaboratively with child development professionals to role model and support the implementation of therapeutic strategies * Maintains accurate documentation, case notes, and progress records in accordance with provincial requirements and WFN policies. * Performs duties in accordance with Westbank First Nation policies, Child Care Licensing Regulations, provincial program requirements, and applicable practice guidelines. * Maintain confidentiality on all matters relating to the affairs of Westbank First nation and clients KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Ability to build trusting, respectful, and responsive relationships with children, families, caregivers, and community partners. * Ability to collaborate effectively with families, childcare providers, child development professionals, and interdisciplinary teams. * Demonstrated patience, flexibility, professionalism, and sound judgment. * Strong observation, documentation, and record-keeping skills. * Ability to implement individualized support plans and therapeutic strategies under the guidance of the ISCD/IEYO Consultant and other professionals. * Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment. * Ability to maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality, and ethical standards. * Sound understanding of child development, inclusive practices, and developmental milestones. * Working knowledge of trauma-informed, strengths-based, family-centred, and culturally safe practices. * Demonstrated commitment to cultural humility and respectful engagement when working with Indigenous children, families, and communities. * Understanding of the impacts of colonization, residential schools, and intergenerational trauma on Indigenous Peoples. * Knowledge of Westbank First Nation, Syilx culture, and community-based programs and services is considered an asset. * Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to maintain accurate electronic documentation.
