Job details
About Xanadu: Xanadu’s mission is to build quantum computers that are useful and available to people everywhere. At Xanadu, we are learners, innovators, researchers, collaborators and problem solvers. We are creating something that has never been built before. What we are doing is extremely hard, the classic moon shot. Few people in their life will be able to be a part of something like this, where if we are successful, the technologies we develop will solve some of the world’s most challenging problems, and literally change the world. And that is something to be excited about! Your role and responsibilities: As a Senior Network Engineer, you will own, secure, and modernize our enterprise network infrastructure across a multi-vendor environment. In this role, you will bridge core network operations with modern Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) practices - using Ansible, GitHub, and automated testing pipelines to deploy, configure, and maintain our switches, firewalls, wireless access points, and core services (DNS/DHCP) following a Zero Trust network architecture. Deploy, configure and support multi-vendor networking equipment - switches, firewalls, access points, security cameras, using IaC workflow (Ansible, GitHub). Build and maintain automated network changes: codify the expected outcome, and run test playbooks that verify the live network changes. Operate and support DHCP and DNS infrastructure - including highly-available services with health checks and rolling restarts, deployed through automation. Own firewall policy, VPN, and segmentation between networks; maintain automated configuration backup and high availability. Plan, communicate, and execute maintenance windows for firmware upgrades and infrastructure replacement/upgrades. Support the consolidation of remote access onto a modern identity-aware Zero Trust platform. Design and implement segmented wired and wireless access for distinct user groups authenticated against our directory. Monitor and ensure network reliability and optimal performance using our monitoring tools, metrics and alerting stack. Troubleshoot network connectivity issues (LAN, WLAN, WAN and VPN) across macOS, Linux, and Windows in a timely and efficient manner. Maintain accurate documentation, diagrams, runbooks, and asset records. Collaborate closely with internal teams to ensure a secure networking posture. Work directly with end-users on projects and new equipment deployment. Basic qualifications and experience: Diploma and/or Bachelors in Computer Engineering, Networking Engineering, Telecommunications or equivalent experience. 7+ years of experience in a related IT position. Solid, hands-on command of VLANs, L2/L3 switching, TCP/IP, routing, DHCP, DNS, IPAM, VPNs, and ACL/firewall policy design. Demonstrated experience automating network configuration with Ansible. Infrastructure-as-Code discipline: use Git as the source of truth, work through pull requests and code review, and are comfortable being reviewed and reviewing others. Zero Trust / SASE platforms and identity-driven network access via an IdP with RADIUS. Comfortable with Linux and Docker containers (or equivalent). Scripting ability in Python and/or Bash for backup, drift detection, and glue automation. Experience running change in a production environment where downtime is expensive. Experience with DNS and DHCP services in an enterprise environment. Experience in network operations, incident response, and vulnerability/patch management for network devices. Detail-oriented and able to perform in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities. Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation and to run evening/weekend maintenance windows. Preferred qualifications and experience: CI/CD for infrastructure: GitHub Actions and/or Jenkins pipelines running scheduled network jobs, config backups, and validation. AWS networking fundamentals. Monitoring and observability tooling. IT asset management / CMDB practices. Experience working in an agile delivery environment. Relevant certifications (e.g. CCNA/CCNP/CCIE, Aruba ACSP/ACMP, AWS networking, Security+). Worked in a fast pace startup environment and understands the importance of juggling multiple projects. This is for a new position. Your base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and internal benchmarks. The base salary range is $95,000 - $115,000 CAD. You will also be eligible for equity and benefits. Our values are important. They are fundamental and lay the foundation for culture at Xanadu. Learn more about our values here.
