Job summary
We are hiring a Systems Design Engineer for a full-time opportunity based in Abbotsford, BC. This role is ideal for an intermediate to senior-level engineer with strong experience in product design, system integration, and multidisciplinary engineering. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, analyzing, implementing, integrating, and verifying complex systems involving mechanical, electronic, firmware, and software components. This role requires someone who can look at the full product as a complete system and ensure all parts work together effectively. Key Responsibilities Gather and analyze system requirements from stakeholders and customers. Translate requirements into technical specifications, system designs, and subsystem solutions. Assess components and technologies for feasibility, performance, risk, reliability, scalability, and readiness. Create and maintain system specifications, interface documentation, and technical design documents. Support implementation, integration, troubleshooting, and verification of systems and subsystems. Design and execute tests to validate system functionality and performance. Ensure requirements, design, testing, and validation activities are properly documented and traceable. Work closely with mechanical, electronics, firmware, software, V&V, and project management teams. Identify technical risks and recommend mitigation strategies. Prepare technical documentation, including requirements, design analysis, FMEAs, and technical reports. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field. 10+ years of relevant product design or product development experience. Strong multidisciplinary engineering experience across mechanical, electronic, firmware, and/or software systems. Proven ability to approach product design from a system-level perspective. Experience with requirements, system integration, verification, validation, documentation, and traceability. P.Eng. certification preferred, or eligibility and motivation to obtain P.Eng. registration. Firmware development experience is considered an asset. Leadership or mentorship experience is considered an asset. Ideal Background Candidates from industrial equipment, machinery manufacturing, electromechanical products, automation, power tools, aerospace, automotive, energy, mining, oil and gas, or hardware product development environments would be a strong fit.
