What You'll Do As a Cabinet Maker / Installer at Ackard, you’ll be hands-on in bringing our custom designs to life. You’ll be responsible for both building and installing custom cabinetry and millwork that reflects the quality our clients expect. You’ll work in our cabinet shop and on residential job sites, taking projects from detailed drawings to final installation. From reviewing plans to the final touch-ups, your precision and craftsmanship will ensure every install meets our standards—and wows our clients. Cabinetmaking Arriving prepared and ready to begin work at the start of each shift Reading and interpreting plans, drawings, and specifications to fully understand scope Asking clarifying questions to ensure accuracy before fabrication begins Setting up and operating woodworking machinery and using hand tools safely and efficiently Measuring, cutting, and assembling cabinet components including bases, shelves, doors, drawers, and tops Matching materials for color, grain, and texture consistency Trimming joints for precise fit using hand tools such as planes, chisels, and files Boring holes for screws and dowels using hand or machine methods Gluing, fitting, clamping, fastening, and reinforcing cabinet assemblies Sanding and preparing surfaces for finishing Applying stain, varnish, paint, or other finishes as required Installing hardware such as hinges, drawer slides, catches, and pulls Cabinet & Millwork Installing Reviewing installation plans and confirming scope before site work begins Measuring, marking, and laying out installation guidelines on site Loading, unloading, and transporting materials, tools, and equipment safely Installing cabinetry and millwork with precision and care Performing adjustments, repairs, and service work as required Ensuring finished product meets Ackard’s quality standards and client expectations Keeping a daily log of progress in Buildertrend software Maintaining strong housekeeping practices on site to ensure a safe, organized workspace What You Bring Cabinetmaking certification or equivalent hands-on experienc Strong ability to read and interpret detailed drawings and plans High attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship Professional, positive attitude with the ability to work independently or as part of a team Self-motivated, accountable, and dependable Strong work ethic and ability to meet project deadlines Proficiency with woodworking machinery and hand tools Minimum 2 years of experience in cabinet fabrication and/or residential installation Ability to successfully pass a criminal background check Working Conditions Able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs independently and over 75 lbs with assistance Requires physical stamina, including the ability to engage core and lower back muscles for extended periods without fatigue Work environments include indoor and outdoor settings, often in variable weather conditions May work independently, as part of a team, or with supervision Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, construction-related dust, fumes, and airborne particles Must be comfortable working in conditions typical of residential construction sites Use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is required at all times on site What We Offer We believe great people deserve great support. What you’ll do

The Cabinet & Millwork Installer is responsible for the safe and precise installation of custom cabinetry and millwork according to project plans. Daily tasks include reviewing installation instructions, maintaining site cleanliness, and logging progress using Buildertrend software.

Requirements

Candidates must have at least 2 years of experience in residential cabinetry and millwork installation along with relevant trade certification. The role requires physical stamina to lift heavy materials and the ability to pass a criminal background check.
