The Opportunity This role is responsible for operating a multitude of equipment or machinery in a designated work area or department. Duties may include operation of a variety of machines that cut, bend, roll or otherwise shape metal, and the operation of forklifts or other power mobile equipment. Responsibilities: * Use a variety of manufacturing equipment to fabricate steel (industrial bends, plasma cutters, cut to length machines, etc.). * Read and understand blueprints, specifications and drawings * Set up and operate all key equipment in the fabrication department (Plasma table, Laser, Presses, brakes, rollers) * Arrange parts and staging of materials * Propose potential quality or productivity enhancements * Ensure quality checks of products are completed as required * Complete required PM’s and calibrations for their machines and tools * Report any quality concerns to lead hand * Complete job orders using Kanban cards and job orders properly (if applicable) * Accurately complete scrap tickets, travelers and shift reports * Review of finish parts to ensure accuracy against drawings * Follow all SOP’s and SWI’s required for the departments. * Propose potential quality or productivity enhancements i.e. continual improvements * Review of finished parts to ensure accuracy against drawings & BOMs. * Report fabrication issues and assist in resolutions as required. Qualifications * High school diploma or GED is preferred * One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience * Manufacturing experience is an asset * Familiarity with basic hand tools * Able to work in fast paced environment handling heavy loads and standing for long periods of time * Possess attention to detail, problem solving, and communication skills * Able to operate overhead crane and forklift (if applicable) * Able to read, understand and follow blueprints * Ability to read and interpret a tape measure * Able to complete basic mathematics (addition, subtraction) * Able to use basic hand tools * Able to read, write, and interpret English language * Great attention to detail * Intermediate computer skills * Exemplary attendance record * Willing to perform a variety of tasks Why AGI?
