About The Company Big Star Lights, part of White Raven Brands, specializes in providing high-quality exterior and decorative lighting solutions tailored for professional installers, contractors, businesses, and community organizations. With a foundation rooted in hands-on installation expertise, we prioritize practical, reliable products, thoughtful guidance, and responsive support to ensure our clients' projects succeed in the field. Our commitment to excellence is reflected in our focus on delivering solutions that are not only innovative but also dependable and easy to implement. As a member of the White Raven Brands family, Big Star Lights benefits from a collaborative environment that includes close working relationships with FestiLight, our design and installation division. This synergy offers us a comprehensive perspective across various domains such as product development, ecommerce, wholesale distribution, installation services, and customer support. Our core values—innovation, integrity, professionalism, quality, people, and entrepreneurial spirit—drive us to continuously improve our systems and processes, fostering a culture that values both customer experience and the quality of work behind it. About The Role We are seeking a Business Development Associate to join our dynamic team. This role is vital in creating qualified, well-prepared sales conversations that keep our revenue pipeline active and moving forward. The successful candidate will be responsible for researching prospective accounts, engaging with both existing and potential customers, qualifying opportunities, and maintaining accurate records within our CRM system. This position offers a unique opportunity for individuals who excel in written communication, are proactive in following through, and enjoy learning about technical products and industry-specific solutions. This role is not focused on high-volume appointment setting nor is it a senior closing position. Instead, it is designed for someone who can build trust with busy business owners and operators, demonstrate technical curiosity, and develop meaningful relationships. The Business Development Associate will work closely with the Business Development Manager and collaborate with teams across sales, marketing, operations, customer service, and technical support. Early focus areas include professional lighting installers, adjacent trades, and targeted opportunities within partner, franchise, municipal, and commercial sectors. Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess excellent written communication skills that are concise, professional, and personable. Confidence and professionalism in phone and video interactions with entrepreneurs, project managers, and other stakeholders are essential. Strong follow-through ability is critical; turning conversations into actionable next steps and maintaining organized CRM records are key components of success. Candidates should demonstrate sound research capabilities, commercial judgment, and curiosity about technical products and installation realities. A consultative approach—asking insightful questions before recommending solutions—is highly valued. High initiative, good judgment, and adaptability are important, especially in a growing, seasonal business environment where priorities and systems evolve. While formal experience in sales or related fields is beneficial, evidence of clear communication, quick learning, and reliable execution outweigh years of experience. Responsibilities Research target companies to identify the right contacts, understand business context, and determine fit signals and reasons for outreach. Develop personalized, thoughtful outreach messages tailored to specific campaigns, avoiding generic mass messaging. Respond promptly and professionally to replies, referrals, booking requests, quote inquiries, and routine commercial questions. Conduct or support qualification calls to gather insights into the customer's business model, scale, buying process, and decision timelines. Create concise account briefs to facilitate effective planning calls with relevant context. Send timely, clear follow-up summaries including recommendations, relevant resources, owner details, and next steps with deadlines. Maintain accurate and complete records within Pipedrive, including stages, notes, activities, and next steps. Re-engage with existing or lapsed accounts through targeted, account-specific communication strategies. Support research and follow-up efforts for franchise, multi-location, municipal, and tradeshow opportunities. Develop a strong understanding of our products and programs to confidently answer routine questions and involve technical experts when necessary. Participate in weekly revenue reviews and contribute to continuous process improvements. Benefits We offer a competitive salary range of 60,000 to 70,000 CAD per year, complemented by commission and bonus opportunities based on performance. This is a full-time, salaried position with a hybrid work model based in British Columbia, allowing flexibility to work remotely with the option to attend our Richmond-area office as needed. Our benefits package includes health and wellness support, professional development opportunities, and a collaborative work environment designed to support your growth and success. Equal Opportunity White Raven Brands is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. We believe that varied perspectives and backgrounds strengthen our team and drive innovation. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, age, disability, or any other protected status under applicable law.
