Trading Systems and Cloud Platform Engineer

Location: Greater Toronto Area (On-Site) Employment: Full-Time Compensation: C$130,000–C$175,000 base salary, plus performance bonus and equity potential. AIRO is building a next-generation investment management firm grounded in rigorous research, technology and disciplined portfolio construction. Our quantitative research platform is already well advanced. We are now building the production infrastructure that will operate these systems safely, securely and reliably with real capital. The Opportunity This is a rare opportunity to become one of AIRO's first technical hires and help build the operating platform of an investment firm from the ground up. Our research and quantitative platform is led by highly capable research engineers focused on investment models, research systems and backtesting. We are looking for someone with a complementary skill set whose passion is building world-class production systems. Your responsibility will be ensuring that AIRO's live trading platform operates flawlessly every trading day. Why This Role Is Different This is not a generic DevOps position. It is not a quantitative research role. It is not a maintenance position. You will help architect and own the production systems that connect research to live capital. You will work directly with the Founder/CIO What You'll Own Production cloud architecture (Google Cloud Platform) Live trading infrastructure Brokerage and execution integrations Market-data pipelines Order lifecycle management Position and trade reconciliation Production deployment pipelines Monitoring, alerting and operational dashboards Security, IAM and secrets management Disaster recovery and business continuity Production documentation and runbooks What Success Looks Like Within your first year, you will help AIRO: Build an institutional-grade production platform Create robust monitoring and operational controls Implement automated reconciliation and audit trails Design secure production environments Build infrastructure capable of scaling with the firm for years to come What We're Looking For We're much more interested in capability than years of experience. You may have 4 years of experience. You may have 12. What matters is that you've built and owned real production systems. Ideal background includes: Strong Python development Strong SQL and API design Google Cloud Platform (or deep AWS/Azure experience with willingness to specialize in GCP) Containers and CI/CD Infrastructure as Code Monitoring and observability Security best practices Strong debugging and systems thinking Excellent documentation habits Experience with any of the following is a major plus: Trading systems Electronic markets Brokerage APIs FIX Market data Payments Banking infrastructure High-reliability distributed systems Interactive Brokers On-Site by Design This role is based in the Greater Toronto Area and is primarily on-site. We're intentionally building AIRO's production operations locally. Our live investment systems require close collaboration during development, testing and daily operations. Working together in person improves reliability, accelerates problem solving and supports the security and operational discipline required to manage institutional capital. The ideal candidate has experience building and owning real production systems with strong Python, SQL, and cloud platform expertise. Experience with trading systems, brokerage APIs, or high-reliability financial infrastructure is highly preferred.
