Family Physician

Position: Family Physician Location: Ottawa, Ontario Status: Full-time or Part-time Permanent; job posting open until filled. Reports to: Executive Director Akausivik Inuit Family Health Team (AIFHT) is a not-for-profit medical clinic providing culturally safe, community-based primary medical care to Inuit individuals and their families. We work closely with federal, provincial, and local health partners to deliver holistic, respectful, and responsive care grounded in Inuit cultural safety principles. AIFHT requires a conscientious, career minded Family Physician to be responsible for the diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of patients, as well as the effective management and coordination of care for all ages. The Physician will provide medical care by interviewing, examining and treating patients as necessary. This individual is responsible for gathering and organizing patient data and case history from various sources including the patient, family, nurses, specialists and other care practitioners. The Physician orders and evaluates diagnostic and laboratory testing as required. The Physician will be expected to establish and maintain open, effective communication between clinic workers, patients, other physicians, treatment teams and nurses to ensure the effective completion of job duties. Position Requirements: Hold a medical degree, and licensed member in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO). Comfortable in community or walk-in settings. Experience in special programs, such as palliative care, street outreach, working with high-risk populations or medically complex individuals. Inuktitut language skills and/or experience working with Inuit is considered an asset. Wages are outlined as per the Ministry of Health. The Family Physician is responsible for the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of patients of all ages within a community-based clinic. This includes gathering patient data, ordering diagnostic tests, and coordinating care with a multidisciplinary team.

Candidates must hold a medical degree and be a licensed member in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Experience with high-risk populations or Inuktitut language skills are considered assets.
