Position: Senior / Principal Solutions Architect (Cloud Strategy & Operating Model Assessment) Duration: 3 months (with potential extension) Location: Remote (Preference for EST Time Zone) Work Model: Remote About Our Client: A Canadian public sector organization undertaking a strategic review of its cloud operating model, governance practices, and technology landscape to support future-state transformation initiatives. About this opportunity: We’re looking for a Senior / Principal Solutions Architect to lead a strategic advisory engagement for a public sector client. In this role, you will assess the client’s current technical environment, organizational structure, governance model, and cloud capabilities to develop recommendations for a secure, scalable, and sustainable future-state operating model. This is a consulting and assessment-focused opportunity rather than an implementation role. You will engage directly with executive and senior stakeholders, conduct current-state assessments, identify risks and gaps, benchmark against industry best practices, and deliver clear, evidence-based recommendations that support strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate combines deep cloud and enterprise architecture expertise with strong communication and stakeholder management skills, along with experience working in public sector environments. What You’ll Do: Cloud Strategy & Architecture Assessment Review current infrastructure, applications, integrations, and cloud environments. Assess cloud readiness, operating model maturity, governance practices, and organizational capabilities. Analyze technical risks, gaps, dependencies, and opportunities for improvement. Evaluate enterprise architecture alignment and cloud adoption strategies. Benchmark existing practices against leading cloud frameworks and operating models. Operating Model & Governance Assess team structures, responsibilities, governance frameworks, and decision-making processes. Review cloud security, compliance, risk management, and operational controls. Evaluate Cloud Centre of Excellence (CCoE) maturity and organizational readiness. Identify improvements to cloud operating models and governance practices. Strategic Advisory & Roadmap Development Develop future-state cloud operating model recommendations. Create actionable and prioritized roadmaps for cloud transformation initiatives. Produce current-state assessments, gap analyses, target operating models, and executive recommendations. Provide strategic guidance on scalability, sustainability, security, and operational effectiveness. Stakeholder Engagement Facilitate workshops, interviews, and discovery sessions with business and technical stakeholders. Collaborate with executives, technology leaders, architects, and operational teams. Present findings, recommendations, and strategic roadmaps to senior leadership. Support informed decision-making through clear and defensible recommendations. What You Bring: 12+ years of relevant industry experience. 5+ years in Solutions Architecture, Consulting, Enterprise Architecture, or Cloud Advisory roles. Proven experience leading cloud strategy, cloud transformation, and operating model assessments. Strong background in enterprise architecture and technical consulting engagements. Extensive experience with cloud governance, security, compliance, and risk management. Demonstrated ability to assess complex technical environments and translate findings into strategic business recommendations. Experience facilitating executive workshops and stakeholder engagements. Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills. Ability to influence senior stakeholders and communicate complex concepts clearly. Nice to Have Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and/or Oracle Fusion applications. Experience supporting ERP, HR, or Payroll platforms within large enterprises. Public sector transformation experience, particularly within Canadian federal, provincial, or municipal environments. Familiarity with Government of Canada cloud guardrails, ITSG-33, security frameworks, and data residency requirements. Candidates should bring strong cloud governance, security, compliance, and risk expertise, along with executive communication and stakeholder facilitation skills; public sector and Oracle experience are advantageous.
