FREELANCE SENIOR INTERIOR DESIGNER Albert David Design Inc. | Toronto & GTA Mandatory Albert David Design Inc. is seeking an experienced and highly creative Freelance Senior Interior Designer to collaborate with our design studio on high-end residential interior design projects. We are looking for someone with a strong creative point of view, exceptional design instincts, and the ability to develop distinctive, sophisticated interiors from concept through material selection. This is an opportunity for a designer who is passionate about creating spaces that feel original, layered, refined, and highly considered. THE ROLE As a Freelance Senior Interior Designer, you will be responsible for developing and contributing to the creative direction of residential projects. You will work closely with our team to translate client requirements into compelling and cohesive design concepts. The ideal candidate is not simply someone who can put together a beautiful room — we are looking for a designer who can see the bigger picture, establish a strong design vision, and bring together materials, finishes, furnishings, colours, textures, and architectural elements in a thoughtful and unexpected way. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Develop unique and compelling interior design concepts for high-end residential projects Create sophisticated moodboards, concept boards, material palettes, and design presentations Establish a clear design direction and visual story for each project Source and curate materials, finishes, fabrics, furniture, lighting, plumbing, hardware, and accessories Have a strong ability to mix and layer materials, textures, colours, and finishes Develop cohesive material palettes that feel elevated, intentional, and original Research new products, vendors, manufacturers, and emerging design trends Think creatively and bring fresh, innovative ideas to each project Collaborate with the Principal Designer and design team to develop and refine concepts Present design ideas and confidently communicate the reasoning behind design selections Assist with furniture, lighting, décor, and accessory selections as required Maintain a high level of attention to detail throughout the design process Participate in client presentations and design meetings when required Coordinate with suppliers, trades, and other project consultants as needed Manage multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining a high standard of design quality WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR 3+ years of professional interior design experience, preferably in high-end residential design A strong and recognizable creative design sensibility Exceptional ability to create concepts and moodboards Excellent understanding of materials, finishes, colour, texture, scale, and proportion Strong sourcing skills and knowledge of premium residential products and suppliers Ability to create unexpected but cohesive material combinations A natural ability to curate and edit — knowing what belongs together and, equally importantly, what doesn't Strong visual presentation skills Excellent attention to detail Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a design team Strong communication and organizational skills Ability to manage deadlines and multiple projects Proficiency in relevant interior design and presentation software THE IDEAL CANDIDATE You are a designer who: Thinks beyond trends You understand current design but aren't dependent on what's trending Has a unique vision You can walk into a space and immediately begin seeing possibilities Understands materials You know how stone, wood, metal, fabric, tile, glass, colour, and texture can work together to create depth and character Knows how to curate You can take a wide range of options and create one cohesive, sophisticated design story Is creatively confident You aren't afraid to bring forward an idea that is different, unexpected, or unconventional Has exceptional taste You understand proportion, balance, scale, composition, and the details that elevate a space from good to exceptional WHAT WE OFFER Opportunity to work on high-end residential interior design projects Flexible freelance/project-based work Collaborative environment Opportunity to contribute to the creative direction of unique projects Potential for ongoing freelance collaboration based on project requirements and performance HOW TO APPLY Please submit the following to info@albertdaviddesign.com Resume Portfolio showcasing your strongest residential interior design work Examples of concept boards, moodboards, and material palettes you have developed A brief introduction outlining your design philosophy and creative approach Your freelance availability and preferred project/working arrangement Portfolio quality and creative vision will be heavily weighted in our selection process.
