Employment Type: Limited Term – Anticipated duration 12 Months Salary Range: T3, Level 5, $102,000 - $120,000 per year. The final compensation for this position will be determined based on individual factors, including education, qualifications, experience, and internal equity. Reservoir Technologist The Opportunity­­ The Regulatory Applications (RA) Branch of the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) is seeking a Reservoir Technologist to join the Subsurface Applications team. The Reservoir Technologist will evaluate and provide technical guidance and support for resource development related applications and submissions, gas removal applications, as well as rate limitation submissions. The role requires interacting with other technical professionals to review proposals, liaising with applicants, clearly articulating risks associated with each application, and making decisions on applications. What your day-to-day will look like: Review and make decisions on equity and conservation-based applications for new and existing oil and gas developments. Apply risk based technical review principles to ensure applications are compliant with AER rules and regulations and ensure application timelines are met. Liaise with representatives from industry, the public, and internal stakeholders during the application review process on regulatory requirements associated with oil and gas developments. Perform desktop reviews to ensure operational risks associated with the development have been mitigated through the compliance and assurance mechanisms in place. Support enterprise projects by providing technical guidance and input, assisting with the implementation into our core business functions and collaborating with the stakeholders (internal and external) as necessary. Support the appeal and hearing processes, including Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) sessions. What we’re looking for in you: 5+ years of related experience in reservoir engineering or related Oil and Gas field of study within the Oil and Gas sector. Regulatory experience is an asset. Technologist diploma in the area of Chemical or Oil and Gas. Registered certified technologist with ASET or eligible for accreditation is required. Ability to present and communicate complex technical information to a variety of audiences. Strong written and verbal communication including technical writing. Strong understanding of reservoir engineering principles. Strong understanding of Alberta’s regulatory framework and associated legislations and enactments. Ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders, both internal and external. Additional Information: All applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada at the time of application.
