LEED MR Specialist

Your Opportunity: Reporting to a Manager, Furnishings & Equipment, Capital Projects, the FE LEED MR Specialist ensures that all healthcare furniture, medical equipment, and clinical furnishings comply with the rigorous requirements of the LEED v4/v4.1 Healthcare rating system. This role bridges healthcare procurement, clinical operations, and green building compliance to source low-emitting, chemically safe, and sustainably manufactured medical interior assets. This position also works as part of a broader FE multidisciplinary team of Healthcare Equipment Specialists, Healthcare Furnishings Specialists, Project Coordinators and an Education Team. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to: assisting the Specialists to ensure FE selection includes the necessary requirements to achieve LEED MR certification on required projects, Manage and upload all healthcare interior furniture and equipment compliance data into LEED Online, develop department standard operating procedures and job aids, create & conduct professional educational presentations (internal to project teams and external to clinical end users, as required), conduct competency reviews and QAQC, cross train with Education Specialist to provide coverage and work collaboratively as a contributor to all activities assigned to the team. Support the successful implementation of the FE Education Team Strategic Framework. This position has a strong potential to transition into a permanent opportunity as part of a Provincial Furnishings & Equipment planning department supporting major capital healthcare projects across the Province of Alberta. Description: Engaged on a project by project basis to ensures that furniture, medical equipment, and furnishings align with green building certification standards. Scope of activities should fall within the existing specialist JD’s combined. Analyzes, calculates and produces the necessary documentation for projects to achieve LEED credits related to F&E. Produces education materials & trains all specialists on LEED certification requirements including chemical disclosure, low emitting materials compliance, job aids, reference materials, etc. Expect the individual to maintain expertise and stay current on requirements and influence process changes internally as needed in order to achieve success in obtaining F&E related credits on projects. Provides regular updates to Management regarding their scope of work. Supplements and contributes to the work of the Education Specialist, the two team members cover for one another regarding time off. Experience: Proven experience documenting the Furniture and Medical Equipment credit unique to the LEED Healthcare rating system. Additional Required Qualifications: Strong work ethic and positive attitude in addition to a proven ability to lead by example and motivate a project team is required. Proven strong computing stills in addition to excellent verbal and written communication skills. This position is required to travel to healthcare projects throughout the province. Safety training is required to access construction sites, as well as approved personal protective equipment (PPE). The successful candidate must perform effectively in a high pressure, project-based work environment with frequent workload changes, competing demands & deadlines. Perform repetitive work according to set procedures, with frequent interruptions and/or distractions. Adapt to frequent changes in reporting structure, workload and adjust priorities quickly. Set priorities and prioritize assignments which accurately reflect the relative importance of job responsibilities & project deliverables to complete heavy workload within established time frames. Work independently & follow through on assignments. Some travel throughout the province including overnight for project deliverables, teambuilding, staff meetings and other day to day activities is required with this position. Travel in winter driving conditions in rental vehicles required as scheduled. Preferred Qualifications: A candidate who is comfortable working in a high pressured, ever-changing work environment with strong critical thinking skills, who welcomes social interaction with colleagues is preferred.

The LEED MR Specialist ensures healthcare furniture and medical equipment comply with LEED v4/v4.1 Healthcare rating system requirements. They manage compliance data, develop standard operating procedures, and provide educational training to project teams and clinical end users.

Candidates must hold a LEED AP BD+C or ID+C credential with a healthcare focus and a degree in a relevant field such as Healthcare Design, Interior Design, or Biomedical Engineering. Proven experience in documenting furniture and medical equipment credits for LEED Healthcare projects is required.
