Respiratory Therapist I

Your Opportunity: As the acute care Respiratory Therapist I at Alberta Children's Hospital, you be challenged in your ability to balance varying patient acuity levels and priorities in the dynamic environments that Respiratory Therapy provides service to including PICU, NICU, Inpatient Units and the Emergency Department. The RRT I is a pivotal member of the health care team, and you will have the opportunity to utilize your excellent clinical, communication and teamwork skills to support optimal outcomes for your patient population. Description: As a Respiratory Therapist I, you will assess patients (clients, resident), develop and implement respiratory therapy care plans and monitor their progress. You will be responsible for various diagnostic and therapeutic equipment and interventions. You will collaborate with various clinical teams and groups to enhance clinical outcomes. You will provide training and assist health care providers in the use and care of respiratory equipment as well as educate patients and their families regarding diseases, medications, equipment and treatments. Additional Required Qualifications: Current BCLS-HCP Certification, including expiration date. Minimum of 6 months Tertiary Critical Care experience within the last 3 years. Preferred Qualifications: Pediatric experience. Level III NICU experience. Formal preceptor training. Current PALS certification including expiration date. Current NRP certification including expiration date. Team lead experience. Commitment to a multidisciplinary committee within the past 2 years. Experience with rapid response team/Transport/ECLS.

Assess patients and implement respiratory therapy care plans while monitoring progress across various acute care environments. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to operate diagnostic equipment and educate patients and families on treatments.

Requires active registration with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta and current BCLS-HCP certification. Must have at least 6 months of Tertiary Critical Care experience within the last 3 years.
