Job summary
Your Opportunity: This Unit Clerk position is essential to the smooth and efficient operation of the Labour/Delivery and Postpartum inpatient units. As the initial contact person, the Unit Clerk is instrumental in facilitating communication between nursing and other health disciplines, departments, patients, and families. The Unit Clerk provides ongoing assistance to nursing, medical, and other staff concerning the administrative and procedural work of the inpatient units. In addition, the unit clerk will be responsible for providing orientation and training to new Unit Clerks. As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program. Additional Required Qualifications: Proficient skills in both written and spoken English required. Medical Terminology Course required. Ability to balance numerous demands and conflicting priorities. Preferred Qualifications: Recent experience in a Unit Clerk position on Labour/Delivery & Postpartum. Training and experience with Connect Care; Obstetrical Unit clerk with Full Registration. Demonstrated knowledge of Personal Directory. Demonstrated intermediate skill level in web-based MS office (outlook, excel, word, teams). Demonstrated experience in Patient and Family Centered Care. Demonstrated strong organizational, communication, and conflict resolution skills.

Requirements
