The Opportunity Alberta University of the Arts (AUArts) is looking for a creative and organized Exhibitions Assistant to provide support to gallery operations and exhibition programming. This is a casual position starting September 2026 until June 2027. Hours of work will be approximately 17 hours per week, typically scheduled Tuesday – Thursday with occasional evening and weekend hours required for events. The deadline to apply is Friday August 21, 2026. Key Responsibilities Support exhibitions and events, including receptions, artist talks, and other programming. Support development of print and digital communications materials. Assists with archive and collection related projects. Qualifications: The following qualifications have been determined to promote likelihood of success in the role. In alignment with the principles of inclusion, individuals with an alternative equivalent qualification may be considered. Minimum BFA or BDes from an accredited institution. Demonstrated experience in contemporary art, art history, public programming, and outreach activities. Basic knowledge of craft, fine art and design studio practice and/or gallery preparatory skills. Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Adobe (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign). Excellent communication skills. Excellent problem solving, organization, and planning skills with a strong attention to detail. Competencies: AUArts has established five common competencies to promote unity of vision and action in the organization: Healthy Spaces Active Inclusion Creative Innovation Collaborative Practice Strategic Leadership As a member of the AUPE bargaining unit (Local 071/006), this casual position pays an hourly rate of $19.67 plus 6% pay in lieu of vacation and union dues will be collected at a rate of 1.5% per pay. Requirements

Candidates must hold a minimum of a Bachelor of Fine Arts or Bachelor of Design degree from an accredited institution. Applicants should possess demonstrated experience in contemporary art, art history, and public programming, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite.
