Application Security Analyst (AI Training) About The Role Your knowledge of how software breaks in the real world is exactly what's needed to make AI smarter about security. At Alignerr, we work with the world's leading AI research labs to build and train cutting-edge AI models — and we need experienced application security professionals to help AI learn how to think like a seasoned security engineer. This is a fully remote, flexible contract role where your expertise directly shapes the next generation of AI reasoning around software risk. Organization: Alignerr Type: Hourly Contract Location: Remote Commitment: 10–40 hours/week What You'll Do Analyze realistic application security scenarios involving code, APIs, and system behavior Classify and evaluate vulnerabilities including authentication flaws, injection risks, and business logic issues Assess secure coding practices and remediation strategies for accuracy and completeness Create and validate security-focused reasoning datasets that teach AI how to assess and prioritize application risk Provide structured, expert-level feedback that directly improves AI security reasoning Who You Are 2+ years of hands-on experience in application, product, or software security Solid familiarity with the OWASP Top 10 and common vulnerabilities found in production environments Able to distinguish genuine exploitability from theoretical or low-impact risk Strong written communication skills with the ability to explain security reasoning clearly and systematically Self-directed and comfortable working asynchronously on task-based assignments Nice to Have Experience in penetration testing, bug bounty hunting, or secure code review Background in API security, cloud-native environments, or DevSecOps Familiarity with AI or data labeling workflows Why Join Us Work directly on frontier AI systems with top research labs Fully remote and flexible — work on your own schedule Freelance perks: autonomy, variety, and global collaboration Make a meaningful contribution to how AI understands and reasons about real-world security Potential for ongoing work and contract extension
What you’ll do
Analyze application security scenarios involving code, APIs, and system behavior, and assess vulnerabilities, secure coding practices, and remediation strategies. Create and validate security reasoning datasets and provide structured feedback to improve AI models’ ability to evaluate and prioritize software risk.
Requirements
Applicants need at least two years of hands-on experience in application, product, or software security and familiarity with the OWASP Top 10 and common production vulnerabilities. They should be able to assess real-world exploitability, communicate security reasoning clearly, and work independently on asynchronous assignments.
