Allied Certifications Ltd. (ACL) is a BC-based company that develops and manages Indigenous protocol compliance certification programs on behalf of First Nations — Foundations for Right Relationship. Authorized by First Nations clients, not operating as a conventional consultancy, ACL builds the infrastructure through which businesses operating on Indigenous lands can demonstrate verified compliance with Indigenous laws and protocols, generating sustainable revenue for Indigenous stewardship programs in the process. ACL's flagship program, the Tla-o-qui-aht Tribal Parks Allies Certification Program, has been running since 2018, has certified over 160 businesses and organizations, and has generated more than $2 million for the Tla-o-qui-aht First Nation. This proven model is now being replicated across BC, with active programs and feasibility work underway with Lower Smelqmix, Sts'ailes First Nation, Semá:th, and others. Position Summary ACL is hiring a full-time, salaried Project Manager to work directly with Julian Hockin-Grant (Founder & Principal) and Eve Neral (Project Manager) to deliver Ally Certification programs for First Nations clients across BC. This is a pivotal hire in ACL's growth phase, as we scale a proven model across new First Nations communities and build the internal capacity to support that growth. We care more about who you are than what's on your resume. If you have a genuine fire for this work and understand the value of what ACL offers Indigenous communities and the businesses that operate on their land, we can teach you the rest. Benefits: Statutory benefits including CPP, EI, and WorkSafeBC coverage Professional Development: Investment in training and capacity building Allied Certifications’ Core Values Foundations for Right Relationship There are a handful of basic things that every business needs to be doing to be in right relationship with the First Nation where they operate, including: Acknowledge Rights and Title. Establish protocols for operating on Indigenous land. Represent the territory consistently with how the Nation wants their territory/culture portrayed in media, on tours, etc. Contribute an economic benefit to the First Nation. By asserting certification-based allyship programs, First Nations can exert pressure on business operators to comply with these foundational principles. As it has already done in Tla-o-qui-aht country, ACL seeks to accelerate a cultural shift in BC towards respecting Indigenous rights and title and genuine relationship building between First Nations and BC business owners. Respecting First Nations' autonomy & territory ACL will not participate in the establishment of a community project without the support of any First Nation with a title claim to the lands in question. ACL will only solicit the participation of businesses operating within any Nation's territory in cooperation with that Nation. Rewarding Right Relationship The community projects we co-create with First Nations will honour and reward businesses who put in the work of reconceptualizing their relationship to the land, the people, and the Indigenous Nations who hold rights and title to their homelands. This program will distinguish who is participating in this work of respecting and honouring inherent Indigenous rights from those who perpetuate the existing colonial system, and seek to reward those businesses with market advantages. At the speed of relationship We work at the speed of relationship. Funding deadlines, budget deadlines, market pressure, political change, competition, and consumer demand will not coerce ACL to rush any step at the expense of building trusting, respectful relationships with all of our stakeholders. Putting in the work and leaning into discomfort Approaching First Nations communities in a respectful and meaningful way requires intentional effort, relationship-building, and a willingness to navigate discomfort as part of the growth process. Discomfort is a natural part of growth when working towards reconciliation and right relationships. By leaning into that discomfort, businesses and organizations can challenge assumptions, listen deeply, and commit to meaningful actions that respect and empower First Nations communities. Towards a reciprocal economy Indigenous economic systems throughout so-called British Columbia reward citizens who serve their communities and contribute to collective prosperity. This program will enable non-Indigenous residents or stakeholders in Indigenous lands to participate in Indigenous community-building and earn social capital (trust & respect) for their contributions. Promoting stronger local relationships and creating tighter flows of capital through communities and territories will contribute to a resurgence of Indigenous economies of reciprocity. Generational approach Ally programs are a transitional tool intended to equip the next generation with better tools to effectively care for the lands and waters we rely on for sustenance and connection, and to effectively challenge generational cycles of racism, colonial thinking, ignorance, trauma, dispossession, poverty, and oppression. This program is a stepping stone towards a better future.
