Job summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Financial Analyst to join a dynamic finance team supporting financial reporting, regulatory accounting, and corporate financial operations. This role is ideal for a Canadian CPA with strong expertise in IFRS reporting, financial analysis, internal controls, and month-end/quarter-end close processes. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver accurate financial reporting, support regulatory requirements, improve financial processes, and provide valuable insights that help drive business decisions. Key Responsibilities Prepare and review quarterly financial statement note disclosures. Prepare routine and complex journal entries and account reconciliations during month-end and quarter-end close. Support consolidated financial reporting and ensure compliance with IFRS accounting standards. Provide financial analysis and operational support for regulatory reporting and internal management reporting. Implement and maintain accounting policies, regulatory requirements, and internal control processes. Support external audit activities by providing required documentation and analysis. Analyze financial results, identify key business drivers, and communicate insights to stakeholders. Monitor emerging IFRS standards and assist with implementation of new accounting and disclosure requirements. Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes through automation and process enhancements. Assess, monitor, and strengthen internal controls and risk management practices. Lead cross-functional meetings and collaborate with business partners to ensure timely completion of deliverables. Participate in special projects and ad hoc financial analysis as required. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Commerce, Business Administration, or a related discipline. Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is required. Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in financial analysis, corporate accounting, or financial reporting. Strong knowledge of IFRS financial reporting and accounting standards. Experience with month-end and quarter-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; experience with ERP systems is an asset. Preferred Qualifications Experience within a regulated industry, such as utilities or energy. Knowledge of regulatory accounting and MIFRS. Experience supporting external audits and internal control frameworks. Demonstrated success in process improvement and financial reporting automation initiatives.
