Job details

At Alstom, we understand transport networks and what moves people. From high-speed trains, metros, monorails, and trams, to turnkey systems, services, infrastructure, signalling and digital mobility, we offer our diverse customers the broadest portfolio in the industry. Every day, more than 80 000 colleagues lead the way to greener and smarter mobility worldwide, connecting cities as we reduce carbon and replace cars. The REM project is located in Montreal, Canada and its operation and maintenance activities are spread across a 67km network with its maintenance facilities in Brossard and Saint-Eustache. Alstom’s scope for the project is to support the operator and maintainer by providing technical support and spare parts for the rolling stock and signaling activities focusing mainly on level 4 maintenance activities. As a TSSSA Rolling Stock Engineer on the REM project, your primary responsibility will be to provide technical support to the maintainer for the Bogie, Traction, Braking, and TCMS systems, ensure the long-term sustainability of these systems throughout their lifecycle, and apply the various engineering processes associated with these systems. You are a member of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) and have developed strong knowledge and skills in systems engineering requirements management within the railway or transportation sector. You also have relevant experience in vehicle maintenance (bogies, traction, air systems, and brakes). If so, you may be the ideal candidate for this position. This position is based at the REM site in Brossard on Montreal’s South Shore (preferred location) or at the Saint-Eustache site on Montreal’s North Shore. It is a full-time permanent position (40 hours/week). The schedule is Monday to Friday, with a minimum of four days per week on-site. Occasional travel between project sites is required. Please note that to meet operational needs, availability for technical support outside regular working hours may occasionally be required. More Than a Job: A Mission * Provide technical expertise and engineering support for Rolling Stock systems within the TSSSA maintenance scope, including Bogies, Traction, TCMS, Pneumatic and Brake systems. * Analyze fleet performance, reliability trends, and maintenance data to identify issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives. * Support configuration management activities, design changes, and engineering assessments for Alstom-maintained subsystems. * Lead technical investigations of failures and incidents, perform root cause analyses, and recommend corrective actions. * Support Level 4 maintenance activities, overhaul programs, and repair-loop optimization for critical fleet components. * Develop and optimize maintenance plans, troubleshooting procedures, and work instructions to improve fleet availability and reliability. * Utilize HealthHub and digital monitoring tools to support condition-based and predictive maintenance strategies. * Participate in KPI monitoring, technical reporting, and performance reviews of vehicle systems and components. * Support obsolescence management activities, component replacement evaluations, and lifecycle cost optimization initiatives. * Maintain technical documentation, engineering records, and interfaces with maintenance management systems (MMIS). * Collaborate with operations, maintenance, suppliers, and engineering stakeholders to resolve technical issues and enhance fleet performance. Ce que vous apportez * 3+ years of experience in Railways system/Application engineering. Rails experience is highly desired. * Knowledge of rolling stock systems and maintenance, mainly Bogie, TCMS, Traction, pneumatic systems, and braking * Availability for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week at a maintenance center (MSF), and the ability to be on call outside regular hours, with the ability to report to the maintenance center within one hour when on call. * Member of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) * Working knowledge of safety management systems and safety risk assessment * Proficient in the use of MS Office, SAP, Maximo and large data treatment * Capability to interact with internal (other departments) and external (Supliers, Customers, etc..) stakeholders in both French and English * Problem solving capacity (technical and costs evaluation of a solution) * Capacity of managing Technical risks * Self-motivated and autonomous * Excellent interpersonal and professional skills * Strong team player and ability to collaborate effectively Alstom, A Great Place to Grow * Work every day in an innovative project environment where the health, safety, and well-being of our teams are top priorities * Enjoy competitive compensation, including comprehensive benefits (life, health, and retirement) from the moment you start * Develop new skills and reach your full potential through the ongoing training we offer * Opportunities within the organization that match your ambitions If you’re ready to take on the challenge, we’d love to hear from you! Knowledge of a language other than French is an asset when dealing with our international partners, suppliers, colleagues and customers. In Quebec, French remains the main working language of our company. Here, progress isn't always easy but the impact is real. Because the scale is massive, the tasks are complex when the system runs, the train moves, and the city connects that feeling stays with you. And the legacy lasts.
