As part of this growth, they seek a Mechanical Designer to take ownership of drafting and design activities, allowing engineers to focus on higher-value innovation. This role involves collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of 30+ professionals to develop fabrication drawings, P&IDs, general arrangements, welding diagrams, and Bills of Materials for sophisticated equipment and automated systems. The position offers long-term stability, with an initial 1-year contract and strong potential for extension as projects evolve over several years. Key Responsibilities Develop technical drawings and designs (fabrication, P&IDs, general arrangements, welding diagrams, BOMs) using SolidWorks and industry best practices. Interface with construction, procurement, and utility stakeholders to ensure designs meet functional and regulatory requirements. Collaborate with instrumentation & controls, software, and other engineering disciplines to deliver integrated solutions. Support projects from conceptual design to implementation and close-out, providing practical and compliant design solutions. Adhere to nuclear-quality standards (experience in this area is an asset but not mandatory). Candidate Requirements 5+ years of experience in mechanical design and drafting, with a focus on automated systems. Proficiency in SolidWorks (primary tool for 3D CAD and design). Strong technical communication skills (written and verbal) for collaborating with cross-functional teams. Ability to work in a hybrid environment (3+ days on-site in Toronto). Experience in nuclear, energy, or fusion-related projects. Knowledge of FEA/FMEA analysis. Familiarity with nuclear quality assurance standards. Why Join Us? Final compensation will be determined after considering several factors, including professional experience, skill set, educational background, certifications, and geographic market conditions.
