Job summary
This position is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic leader with strategic vision. Priorities include a focus on growing talent and execution against priorities. This role requires significant management experience including the management of managers and individual contributors. This is an in-office position, where the selected candidate will be required to work out of our Waterloo, Ontario office. Responsibilities: * Accountable for engineering across the full product lifecycle, ensuring successful delivery of products that meet defined functional, cost, schedule, performance, quality, and reliability objective * Promote a culture of technical excellence and innovation, encouraging experimentation, learning, and the application of emerging technologies into commercially viable products * Articulate the strategic vision and provide inspirational leadership to the engineering team and instill a sense of urgency and intense customer focus. * Partner with Product, Manufacturing, Service, Quality, Sales, and leadership to convert company strategy into executable technical roadmaps. * Provide clear, concise reporting updates to the General Manager and leadership teams as required. * Develop and maintain departmental budgets. * Performs other related duties to benefit the organization. We are looking for: * University degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience, Masters or PhD preferred. MBA is beneficial. * Background in AI, computer vision/robotics or calibration algorithms is beneficial. * Proven leadership of multi-disciplinary engineering organizations * Strong systems thinking across complex products involving software, hardware, mechanical, electrical, optical, quality, and manufacturing. * Excellent execution discipline: able to convert strategy into priorities, roadmaps, staffing plans, budgets, milestones, and measurable outcomes. * Credible technical judgement: able to ask strong questions, assess tradeoffs, challenge assumptions, and guide practical engineering decisions. * Demonstrable ability to implement products using artificial intelligence. Salary Range: CAD $225,000.00 - $275,000.00 Salary range is inclusive of base salary and eligible incentive program. This position is an existing vacancy.
