Job Title: Data Engineer Location: Surrey, British Columbia Job Type: 12 Months Contract Job Description Key Responsibilities • Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines. • Build, optimize, and manage data warehouses and data lakes. • Integrate data from multiple sources, including databases, APIs, and cloud platforms. • Ensure data quality, consistency, accuracy, and integrity through validation, testing, and monitoring. • Optimize database performance, query execution, and storage efficiency. • Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and engineering teams to deliver clean, structured datasets. • Implement data governance, security, privacy, and compliance best practices. • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve data pipeline failures and performance issues. • Automate data ingestion and processing workflows using orchestration tools. • Document data architecture, pipeline designs, and operational processes. Required Skills • Strong proficiency in SQL and relational database management. • Programming experience in Python, Java, or Scala. • Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT tools and data integration frameworks. • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP). • Knowledge of big data technologies, including Apache Spark, Hadoop, and Kafka. • Experience with modern data warehousing solutions such as Snowflake, Amazon Redshift, or Google BigQuery. • Solid understanding of data modeling, database design, and optimization techniques. • Familiarity with version control systems such as Git. • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills. Preferred Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering, or a related field. • 2–5+ years of experience in data engineering or a similar role. • Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow. • Knowledge of containerization and DevOps tools (Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD) is an advantage. • Relevant cloud or data engineering certifications are a plus.
