Lead Software Engineer – Mainframe (z/OS, HLASM, C/C++)- EN-074 6 months contract Location: Remote(Anywhere in canada) We are looking for an experienced Lead Software Engineer with strong expertise in IBM z/OS mainframe development. Must-Have Skills 10+ years of hands-on experience developing on IBM z/OS Strong programming experience with HLASM (High-Level Assembler) and JCL Solid C/C++ development experience Experience with IBM xLC/C++ Compiler, SMP/E, and COBOL integration Knowledge of RACF, ACF2, SAF, and z/OS security Experience working in banking, insurance, or other enterprise mainframe environments Recent hands-on mainframe development experience (within the last 5–10 years) Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain C/C++ applications on IBM z/OS Develop and maintain HLASM modules and JCL jobs Support cryptographic and security-related software Work directly with customers to troubleshoot technical issues Lead code reviews, mentor team members, and contribute to architecture decisions Support build, packaging, and deployment using modern development tools Nice to Have Experience with cryptography or security products Knowledge of Java or .NET Experience with HSMs (Thales, nCipher, Atalla) Familiarity with CI/CD, GitLab, Jenkins, and CMake Important: Candidates must have strong, recent, hands-on experience with both HLASM and JCL. Experience should be clearly demonstrated in recent projects, preferably with recognized enterprise mainframe organizations such as banks, insurance companies, or major outsourcing firms.

The Lead Software Engineer will design, develop, and maintain C/C++ applications on IBM z/OS, as well as develop and maintain HLASM modules and JCL jobs. They will also support cryptographic and security-related software and lead code reviews while mentoring team members.

Candidates must have over 10 years of hands-on experience with IBM z/OS and strong programming skills in HLASM and JCL. Experience in banking, insurance, or other enterprise mainframe environments is essential, along with recent hands-on mainframe development experience.
