Director, M&A Toronto, Ontario Canada (Hybrid) Job Description: Alpha (part of Andromeda), a portfolio of software businesses within Constellation Software Inc., acquires vertical market software companies around the world with a buy and hold mandate. It provides them with the strategic guidance and financial security they need to become leaders within their respective markets. We are looking for a driven, hard-working, modelling-guru who can lead, build and nurture an M&A team that develops and executes rigorous investment theses at a high velocity. The Director of M&A will report to the President, Alpha (the top executive at Alpha) and will lead the team responsible for M&A execution from target qualification to close at Alpha. Job Responsibilities: Support the President, Alpha and lead the team responsible for M&A execution from target qualification to close at Alpha Developing and recruiting junior M&A execution team members, including managing direct reports Qualifying targets for fit and deal probability through early conversations with business owners/senior executives and review of initial diligence materials Performing detailed financial analysis on the financial statements and underlying data to identify trends and assess business strength and quality Building a detailed financial model in Excel to determine valuation Facilitating the due diligence process and coordinating across multiple internal teams Maintaining relationships with decision makers at acquisition targets Work Experience: 5+ years of progressive M&A work experience at an investment bank, private equity firm, or serial acquiror (or similar) with 3+ years of mid-market deal experience executing transactions. Experience working with small owner-managed businesses as a client/target. Past success leading a team of M&A professionals. Buy side experience is a plus but not required. CPA, CA, CFA, MBA are considered assets. Excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines. Strong communication skills (both verbal & written) with an emphasis on relationships and report writing. Advanced excel and exceptional financial modelling skills. Ability to work variable hours and travel when required to close transactions. Confidence and polish for frequent interaction with executives, owners, bankers, lawyers, and other key stakeholders. Salary Range: The estimated base salary range for this role is CAD $160,000.00 - $180,000.00 per year.
