Creating Community. ____________________________________________________________________________ Kitchen Coordinator / Cook The Kitchen Coordinator is responsible for planning, preparing, and serving breakfast meals for approximately 95–120 individuals per day. The Kitchen Coordinator ensures the kitchen operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all Health Unit requirements while maintaining a respectful and welcoming environment. Responsibilities ● Plan and prepare nutritious breakfast meals within the approved budget. ● Complete grocery shopping and manage food purchases responsibly. ● Maintain accurate food inventory and ensure adequate supplies are available. ● Label, date, rotate, and store food properly. ● Follow all food safety, sanitation, and Health Unit requirements. ● Keep the kitchen, food storage areas, and equipment clean and organized. ● Monitor food waste and make effective use of available food and donations. ● Work with and provide direction to volunteers assisting in the kitchen. ● Ensure meals are prepared and ready for service on time. Key Expectations ● Stay within budget and manage food resources responsibly. ● Maintain a clean, organized, and Health Unit-compliant kitchen. ● Maintain organized inventory and food storage practices. ● Treat participants, volunteers, staff, and community partners with dignity and respect at all times. ● Communicate professionally and work cooperatively with others. ● Foster a welcoming and positive environment for everyone accessing or supporting Centre 105 services. ● Accept feedback and direction from management and work collaboratively to address concerns. Qualifications ● Experience preparing meals for large groups is an asset. ● Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices. ● Strong organizational and time-management skills. ● Ability to work independently and as part of a team. ● Reliable, respectful, and committed to maintaining a positive workplace environment.
