Support mineral resource estimation teams by validating models, assessing uncertainty, documenting assumptions and changes, and improving modelling methods.

Job details

APEX Geoscience Ltd. is seeking a 3D Geological Modeller to support our Mineral Resource Estimation (MRE) projects. This full-time, permanent position focuses on developing, refining, and reviewing 3D geological models, wireframes, and domains that underpin mineral resource estimation. The work involves a range of deposit types and geological settings. We are looking for a hands-on specialist with strong implicit modelling skills and sound geological judgment. Expertise in modelling principles matters more than experience with any particular software package. You will work closely with MRE project managers, resource geologists, and project teams as an individual technical contributor, without formal people or project management responsibilities. Location: Edmonton, AB or Vancouver, BC preferred. Remote within Canada. What You'll Do 3D Geological Modelling Develop, update, and refine implicit 3D geological models for lithology, alteration, mineralization, and other geological features. Integrate drillhole logging, assays, geological maps, geophysical information, and other datasets into coherent geological interpretations. Evaluate geological continuity, geometry, and domain boundaries, adapting modelling approaches to different deposits and the available data. Prepare plans, sections, and 3D visualizations that clearly communicate interpretations and modelling assumptions. Mineral Resource Estimation Support Work with MRE Project Managers and estimators to define modelling requirements and develop fit-for-purpose geological and estimation domains. Incorporate new drilling information, revised interpretations, and technical feedback into model updates, keeping inputs and versions organized. Identify data limitations and geological uncertainty that could affect domain definition or downstream resource estimation. Model Review & Technical Judgment Check models against drillhole intersections, geological sections, plans, and other source information to identify inconsistencies, modelling artifacts, and unreasonable geometry. Assess whether issues are minor or could materially affect geological interpretations or resource domains. Resolve routine matters independently and raise significant concerns with the appropriate technical lead. Document key assumptions, interpretations, checks, and changes so models can be reviewed and used reliably by downstream teams. Modelling Methods & Improvement Apply implicit modelling principles across appropriate software platforms, choosing methods that suit the geological problem rather than relying on one approach. Identify practical ways to improve modelling quality, consistency, and efficiency across projects. What We're Looking For Degree in geology, geological engineering, or a closely related discipline Demonstrated professional experience developing 3D geological models for mineral exploration or mining, including models that support mineral resource estimation. Strong hands-on expertise in implicit geological modelling. Strong geological interpretation skills and experience integrating drillhole, geological, and assay data. Good technical judgment, including the ability to recognize modelling issues, assess their potential impact, and know when to seek further input. Ability to work independently, produce technically sound and well-documented models, and manage assigned deliverables. Clear communication and a collaborative approach to working with resource geologists and other technical specialists. Bonus Points Structural geology and structural interpretation experience, especially with structurally controlled mineralization. Experience with a range of deposit types or complex geological settings. Familiarity with resource estimation workflows, geological domaining, and geostatistical concepts. Experience with more than one geological modelling platform. Python or other tools for geological modelling and data-preparation automation. What We Offer Hands-on technical modelling work that contributes directly to the quality of mineral resource estimates. A range of geological settings and projects, working alongside experienced resource geologists and technical specialists. About APEX APEX is an international geological consulting company with offices in Canada, the USA, and Australia. We provide exploration, geological modelling, mineral resource estimation, and technical reporting services to clients around the world. Our work spans precious and base metals, specialty minerals, diamonds, industrial minerals, and other commodities. We value technical excellence, teamwork, and professional growth. To Apply Please submit your resume and a brief cover letter highlighting your implicit geological modelling experience, work supporting mineral resource estimation, and examples of the geological challenges you have addressed through 3D modelling.
