Operations Manager (Automotive parts industry) Newmarket An Operations Manager in automotive production leads daily manufacturing, ensures strict safety and quality standards, and manages teams to meet output goals while reducing waste and costs. Key Responsibilities Manage Production: Oversee assembly lines, high-tonnage metal stamping presses, plastic injection molding cells, and robotic/manual welding lines to hit daily output targets. Quality Control: Enforce Six Sigma or lean manufacturing principles to reduce defects and scrap rates across all stamping, molding, and joining processes. Safety Compliance: Maintain OSHA standards, ensuring proper guarding, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and PPE protocols for stamping presses, automated weld cells, and molding equipment. Supply Chain: Coordinate with logistics and procurement teams to ensure timely arrival of raw materials, steel coils, resins, and hardware components. Budgeting: Control operational expenses, manage tooling and repair budgets, optimize labor costs, and reduce downtime. Team Leadership: Hire, train, and mentor supervisors, tooling technicians, setup engineers, and production line workers. Required Qualifications Experience: 5 to 7 years of manufacturing management experience, specifically overseeing metal stamping, plastic injection molding, and welding operations within the automotive industry. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. Skills: Strong knowledge of IATF 16949 standards, lean manufacturing, root-cause analysis, and specific technical knowledge of stamping dies, injection mold tooling, and welding parameters. Certifications: Six Sigma Green/Black Belt or CPIM certification preferred.
