Job summary

Atlantic Life Line - CEO Opportunity Profile About the Opportunity Viaticus Canada is reviving Atlantic Life Line Ltd. (originally incorporated in Nova Scotia in 1996) as a standalone subsidiary, spinning it off under a new local CEO. The founders are seeking an entrepreneurial CEO to partner with them in building the business, offering viatical and life loan solutions to Nova Scotia and other Canadian policyholders. Structurally, this is closer to a franchise partnership than a traditional hire: the founders contribute sweat equity, intellectual capital, and a network built over 30 years in the business. Viaticus Canada (the parent) intends to provide back-office support and bank funding, though that funding is not yet secured — the founders are working to re-establish a bank line of credit and expect this to take time to build a track record with a financial institution. Position Summary Working alongside the founders, the CEO will lead commercialization, help build the funding relationship, and drive execution for Atlantic Life Line. This is a builder role suited to an executive who enjoys creating value from the ground up rather than managing an established organization, and who is comfortable with an equity-based start-up phase while institutional/bank funding is being secured. Compensation & Deal Structure This is not a salaried role in the traditional sense. The current framing is a franchise-like exchange of value: Viaticus Canada provides: intellectual capital, an established network (including institutional/banking contacts), and, once secured, back-office infrastructure and bank funding for the subsidiary. The CEO provides: sweat equity - hands-on leadership, execution, and help building the funding relationship. No cash salary is offered at this stage; equity/ownership stake in the subsidiary is the compensation mechanism. Equity percentage and vesting are to be discussed directly with the founders. A personal capital contribution around $100K has been referenced as a benchmark, not a fixed requirement - best suited to a candidate who is retired or on a severance package and can go without a base salary for a period. Key Responsibilities Develop and execute the company's strategic plan. Help build and cultivate the funding relationship with banks, investors and strategic partners, including the founders' ongoing work with Growthbridge. Represent the company with potential funding partners, customers and stakeholders. Build a scalable operating model and recruit key leadership as the business grows. Work closely with the founders on governance, priorities and long-term direction. Identify opportunities to commercialize and expand the business in Nova Scotia and, where appropriate, other Canadian markets. Ideal Background CEO, President, COO, Managing Director or equivalent executive leadership experience. Experience raising institutional capital or leading financing discussions. Background in financial services, specialty finance, lending, insurance, fintech or wealth management. Track record scaling businesses or leading growth initiatives. Strong strategic, commercial and relationship-building skills. Comfortable with an equity/sweat-equity compensation structure rather than a guaranteed salary, and open to discussing a personal capital contribution. Leadership Profile Entrepreneurial and self-starting. Commercially minded. Comfortable with ambiguity. High integrity. Collaborative leadership style. Strong communicator with credibility among investors and executives. Success in the First Months Establish a clear operating strategy. Advance the funding strategy and track record with prospective banking partners. Develop strategic partnerships. Build a scalable operating foundation. Position the business for sustainable long-term growth. To Be Discussed Directly With the Founders Equity percentage and vesting schedule. Firm personal-investment expectation, if any. Target start date and travel/location expectations.
