Reporting to the Manager -Processing, the Assistant Manager – Processing supports the overall operation, performance, and supervision of the processing plat to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective gold production. This role assists in managing plant operations, maintenance coordination, metallurgical performance, personnel leadership and continuous improvement while ensuring compliance with company policies, environmental standards, and regulatory requirements. Location: Blackwater Mine Site Schedule: Two (2) Weeks On - Two (2) Weeks Off Rotation Responsibilities Demonstrate effective safety leadership by addressing and enforcing BW Gold safety standards, procedures, and safety systems. Assist in the daily management and coordination of gold processing plant operations. Support achievement of production targets, recovery rates, throughput, and operating efficiencies. Monitor plant performance and collaborate with operations, maintenance, and metallurgy teams to optimize processes. Ensure plant activities are conducted safely and in accordance with operational procedures. Assist with shutdown planning, commissioning activities, and operational readiness initiatives. Participate in troubleshooting operational issues and implementing corrective actions. Promote continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, reliability, productivity, and cost control. Support preventative maintenance and reliability improvement initiatives. Promote a positive safety culture and encourage proactive reporting and engagement. Support workforce planning, scheduling, and coordination of shift activities. Mentor and develop employees through coaching, training, and performance feedback. Participate in recruitment, onboarding, and performance management processes. Assist in preparing operational reports, production summaries, and KPI tracking. Maintain accurate records related to production, safety, environmental compliance, and personnel matters. Support budget monitoring and cost control initiatives within the processing department. Participate in planning meetings and provide operational input to management. Qualifications Degree in Metallurgy, Mineral Processing, Chemical Engineering, Mining Engineering, or a related field is required. Minimum 5–8 years of experience in mineral processing or gold plant operations. Previous supervisory or leadership experience in a mining or processing environment preferred. Strong understanding of crushing, grinding, gravity recovery, leaching, adsorption, elution, detoxification, and tailings management processes. Experience working in remote or mine-site environments is considered an asset. Startup experience an asset. Strong leadership and decision-making abilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple operational demands. Solid understanding of process optimization and operational efficiency. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, remote mining environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and operational reporting systems. Working knowledge of processing methods and procedures. Commitment to the occupational health and safety policies of the business period Comfortable working and living in close quarters with the team Ability to maintain high levels of performance over 12-hour shift Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE). Requirements
Requires a degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related field with 5-8 years of experience in mineral processing. Must have strong leadership abilities and technical knowledge of gold extraction processes in a remote mine environment.
