Chief Architect Position Summary The Chief Architect provides strategic and technical leadership for the design and evolution of enterprise solutions that support current and future business needs. This role defines and guides end-to-end solution architecture across applications, data, infrastructure, integration, security, and technology platforms, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture principles, standards, and strategic objectives. The Chief Architect serves as a trusted advisor to business and technology leaders and plays a key role in the modernization and optimization of complex technology environments, with particular emphasis on IBM mainframe technologies. The role evaluates emerging technologies and architectural approaches, translates business requirements into scalable technology strategies, and ensures that new solutions integrate effectively with the existing technology landscape. Responsibilities Lead and oversee the end-to-end architecture of complex technology solutions across applications, data, infrastructure, integration, security, and hosting environments. Translate business strategies and requirements into scalable, secure, resilient, and sustainable architecture solutions. Provide architectural leadership for strategic programs and initiatives, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture principles, technology roadmaps, security requirements, compliance obligations, and platform standards. Lead architecture decisions related to the optimization, modernization, and transformation of IBM mainframe environments. Evaluate modernization approaches and emerging technologies and recommend solutions that balance business value, technical feasibility, risk, cost, performance, and long-term sustainability. Ensure hosting and infrastructure designs comply with organizational requirements for security, compliance, resiliency, availability, stability, and performance. Partner with development, infrastructure, security, data, operations, and business teams to maintain architectural consistency throughout the solution lifecycle. Identify and analyze issues and raise significant concerns. Prepare architecture assessments, recommendations, roadmaps, and decision materials for senior leaders, governance bodies, and architecture review committees. Qualifications Minimum of 10 years of experience working with mainframe technologies and environments; 15 years is preferred. Domain experience: Minimum of 10 years’ experience supporting complex technology environments within banking or financial services, preferably within large-scale or highly regulated institutions. Experience with mainframe evolution over the past 15 years. Demonstrated experience leading or contributing to mainframe optimization, modernization, and transformation initiatives. Have actively worked with IBM on mainframe optimization and modernization projects. Strong knowledge of IBM Z technologies and associated legacy and modern technology architecture. Experience designing enterprise solutions spanning applications, data, infrastructure, integration, security, and cloud or hosting environments. Experience developing architecture roadmaps, standards, frameworks, patterns, and governance recommendations. Experience presenting complex architecture decisions and recommendations to senior technology and business stakeholders. Leadership & Soft Skills Provides clear leadership, builds alignment, and motivates technical teams toward shared goals. Demonstrates strong business acumen and connects effectively with both business and technology stakeholders. Communicates complex ideas clearly and able to influence senior stakeholders. Solid decision-making skills with the ability to make or recommend architecture decisions in complex environments with competing requirements. Requirements

Requires at least 10 years of mainframe experience and at least 10 years supporting complex technology environments in banking or financial services; 15 years of mainframe experience is preferred. Candidates should have IBM Z expertise, experience with IBM-led modernization initiatives, broad enterprise architecture capabilities, and strong leadership and communication skills; IBM certifications are preferred.
