Atholville Mill is currently recruiting for the following position: Process Chemical Engineer - Temporary Contract (12 - 18 Months) Role Overview: The successful candidate will be responsible to analyze, optimize and improve mill processes to achieve safety, environmental, quality, production and cost objectives in compliance with corporate principles and guidelines and applicable legislation. Key Responsibilities include: Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement: Participate in process optimization, productivity enhancement, and quality improvement initiatives across mill operations. Drive projects focused on the consumption reduction of chemicals, steam, water, and energy. Project Management: Support or independently manage small-to-medium capital and cost-reduction projects from scoping and justification through execution and commissioning. Environmental & Safety Compliance: Ensure strict compliance with all safety and environmental legislation; actively promote a safe workplace and ensure corrective actions are taken as required. Reliability & Troubleshooting: Contribute to reliability improvement initiatives and root-cause problem-solving alongside operations and maintenance teams. Team Collaboration: Work efficiently as part of a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team, communicating effectively with operators, lab personnel, and senior management. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering. Experience: 0 to 5 years of engineering experience, preferably within a pulp and paper mill, heavy process industry, or manufacturing environment. (New graduates are strongly encouraged to apply). Professional Registration: Eligible for registration as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of New Brunswick (APEGNB), with a clear path toward obtaining a P.Eng. designation. Project & Problem-Solving Skills: Demonstrated ability to apply structured problem-solving methodologies and assist with or manage technical projects through various stages of the project lifecycle. Interpersonal & Communication: Excellent organizational, time management, interpersonal, and written/verbal communication skills. Technical Proficiency: Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and an aptitude for analyzing process data. Why AV Group NB Inc.?
