Our Mid-Market branch is seeking an Intermediate or Senior Commercial Lines Fleet Auto Underwriter. In this position, you will service a substantial portfolio of commercial auto business requiring a demonstrated underwriting ability and a commitment to customer service excellence. You will be involved in the underwriting of Fleet accounts. 👉 We welcome applicants with 5 years or more of insurance underwriting experience. We will determine level based on experience. What you’ll do Assess and evaluate risk for new and existing fleet business Assist more junior underwriters with applying corporate underwriting standards and share knowledge and skills with others in the branch (Intermediate); share knowledge and skills with others in the branch (Junior) Analyze reports to determine adequate exposure and loss rating Maintain awareness of market trends, pricing levels and policy form amendments Negotiate renewal terms for the retention of business Utilize loss control and risk management practices in the underwriting process. Respond to inquiries from brokers regarding modification to policy files in a prompt and efficient manner. Work with brokers to develop new business. Develop and maintain excellent broker relationships and management of assigned broker portfolio Provide above average customer service What you’ll bring 5 years or more fleet underwriting experience Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated technical capability to independently manage a portfolio. Ability to provide guidance to junior underwriters. Strong organizational and administrative skills. Highly motivated, enthusiastic, and adaptable. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Strong computer skills. Ability to meet deadlines and perform effectively under pressure. Knowledge of RTM is an asset. What you’ll get The salary band for this position ranges from $60,000 to $75,000 for the intermediate position and $70,000 to $85,000 for the senior position. Please note that individual salary is determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, as well as internal equity.
