Job summary
Location: Nunavut, CA The Company B2Gold is a responsible international senior gold producer headquartered in Vancouver, Canada. Founded in 2007, today, B2Gold has operating gold mines in Mali, Namibia and the Philippines, the Goose Project under construction in northern Canada, and numerous development and exploration projects in various countries including Mali, Colombia and Finland. Position Civil Engineer, Nunavut Location and Reporting Structure Reporting to the Chief Civil Engineer, this position will be a fly in- fly out 3x3 rotation based in Nunavut, Canada. Responsibilities Design and draft Civil infrastructure plans including but not limited to roads, storage pads, site and building grading, culverts and drainage infrastructure under the guidance of the senior engineer including preparing sitewide traffic maps for both permanent site traffic and temporary alterations to traffic management to facilitate construction activities. Project management, scheduling of crew and equipment allocations in conjunction with civil supervisors across numerous ongoing projects as per the site wide priority matrix. Collect and organize and record accumulated project costs for budget reporting and assist in identifying variances between projected and accrued project costs. Further management of deadlines, risks, constraints, optimizations and contribute to mitigation and efficiency planning. Coordinate and analyze the results of required geotechnical and concrete testing labs, ensuring test procedures align with quality standards. Conduct inspections, monitor progress, coordinating required QA/QC and ensure work is done according to design specifications and safety guidelines. Support the preparation of technical drawings as per Internal produced civil infrastructure designs (3D models) and cost estimates to complete scope of work. Oversee procurement requirements, including transportation logistics, stock inventory levels and site future requirements. Prepare and analyze requests for proposals and scope of works with external consultants and suppliers. Collectively reviewing and recommending a preferred option under the guidance of the Senior Engineer. Desired Competencies And Requirements Three (3) years of civil engineering experience; working with mine related civil infrastructure facilities and construction and working in Permafrost conditions is considered an asset. Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (B.Eng), and Professional Engineer (P.Eng) license with ability to obtain membership with Northwest Territories and Nunavut Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists (NAPEG). Familiarity with CAD software (Autocad Civil 3D), Bluebeam PDF and MS Excel and MS Project.
