Job summary
he Materials Handler is responsible for sorting, counting, picking and distributing parts within our warehouse, to our internal customers or the production floor based on Manufacturing requirements. The Materials Handler will need to be comfortable with change, understand the importance of urgency and accuracy and possess effective communication skills. Hour rates based on experience with many opportunities for pay increases and career advancement! RESPONSIBILITES What You'll Be Doing: * Prepares and picks kits of parts in accordance with our Bills of Materials Via RF Smart or Oracle generated pick slips. * Ensures that all picked part kits are properly labelled, tagged and are placed in the designated staging areas as per pick procedure. * Supports and participates in frequent cycle counts and in ad hoc physical inventory counts. * Maintains that systematic transactions and inventory levels are in alignment with physical. * Distributes picked kits to the production floor and our internal customers; with assurance all parts are correctly accounted for and issued to the correct workstations/ locations. * Processes returned parts from the shop floor in accordance with the set return procedure. Communicates any material shortages or at-risk parts to the Material Coordinator for timely resolution * Identifies and reports pick errors and picks discrepancies to the Material Coordinator for collaborative resolution and continuous improvement. * Works together with leadership to ensure material flow inefficiencies are raised and solutions can be implemented. * Communicates any unsafe conditions or accidents/injuries in a timely manner to the manager and team to facilitate prompt correction or reporting. QUALIFICATIONS What You'll Need For Success: * High School Diploma or equivalent required. * Minimum of 1 year of experience in a material handling role, which includes tasks like picking, sorting, and distributing parts, as well as returning parts from the shop floor. * Valid driver’s license and good driving record along with a strong safety acumen. * A solid understanding of warehouse operations, including material flows, safe packing methods, and the impact on the supply chain and manufacturing success. * Basic understanding of supply chain management and the impact of materials flows on supply chain and manufacturing success. * Ability to read schedules for the distribution of parts and use basic mathematical skills as necessary. * Good computer literacy, including a good working knowledge of Excel, Outlook, and Warehouse and Inventory Control systems including use of scanners. * Strong adherence to safety regulations and procedures. * Ability to operate forklift equipment such as counterbalance, reach trucks, and pallet lifts on a daily basis, ensuring safe handling of materials in a warehouse or yard setting. * Excellent attention to detail to ensure that parts are accurately picked, labeled, and staged according to company procedures. * Physically capable of lifting 50 pounds, standing/walking for extended periods, climbing, balancing, bending, stooping, kneeling, and working in various weather conditions.
